Default your thoughts on bud rot?...
...just harvested remainder of my closet grow only to find bud rot within the two most promising central colas... lost about a third of both plants to it. I cut and trimmed the rest of these plants which are drying separately from the ones with no bud rot just incase it reoccurs while drying...

I've only seen a few posts about bud rot, although it sounds relatively common especially on outdoor grows, the advice is usually to cut out infected parts and proceed to dry the rest normally, but some say to get rid of the whole plant as the mould can be dangerous...

I just wondered what everybody else thought about this subject? have you experienced bud rot? would you get rid of the whole plant?

How is the airflow in your closet...I had some
on my last girls and have since added a better fan,
and prevented over-crowding.

I cut away the rotted buds, and don't reccomend
smoking them...but the rest should be fine.

I would ask if you know for sure it's bud rot? I thought I had bud rot or mold and after a couple days I figured out it was caterpillars/moths. There were a few caterpillars on the buds and some mushy spots that weren't black or powdery but the bud just fell apart to the touch in those spots. In fact, while I was curing it I opened the jar to let it breath after a few and a baby moth flew out that had "hatched". I was startled, figured it out, then laughed out loud! If it were a type of bug that dies and stop screwing up the plant once you cut it, all the better.

My airflow wasn't that good, but until it happened I didn't really think that bud rot would be a problem (I wasn't really aware of the condition). It's good to hear some of your feedback though... I think there are some scare mongering articles out there about how toxic the bud rot can be and people have reacted by saying to get rid of the whole plant... most just say to cut out the affected parts like I've done.

One thing that promotes it apparently is leaving any dead leaf litter on the top of the soil or around... so basically next time I will be keeping my grow room as clean/sterile as possible and getting a fan...

Oh you're right, I didn't pick up that it was indoor. I guess that would make you laugh if did not infer I made a mistake and was talking about my outdoor plants. Why do you indoor plants seem so susceptible to rot and mold? I would think most of those spores would be outside.

definately. I have real good airflow and keep the humidity to between 40 - 50% and I can still see how if I wasnt taking all these precautions I would have some serious problems.
