Milky and Amber - what to do

I have six plants two are starting to get amber trichomes. Some are only milky. I need to leave and would like to know if I can put the milky ones in a dark place and if they will continue to turn amber while I am gone. Please help, this is my first grow and I really feel bad about needing to leave them.
