Default I think i am closing in on harvest time
these plants were started in April. not the best photos, but 4 out of the seven plants have heavy crystals -or whatever the tech term is. I am hoping that the plants will last another 6 or 7 weeks until first frost in Florida. on the majority of the plants, the hairs are still white, i'd say about 1/3 have changed over to amber. they are VERY scenty, you can't get within 50 feet of where they are planted w/out smelling them. I finally got my 30x magnifier, i am amazed at the number of crystal on them. even the plant that i early harvested and cured is full of crystal, so i think i am doing ok, potency wise.
I'm looking for more of a head buzz than couchlock, because most of this herb will be smoked with co-workers on the carpool back home. what happens if i harvest too late, will it lose potency?
This is my second grow, so forgive the basic questions, i am hoping to get at least a pound of this stuff dried after harvest, it will last me a long time, i just want it to go right. thx for the advice i will be getting

Hey there! I have one outdoor as well, you will be done probably around the same time as I will, end of October or so, you are still a few weeks out. Keep an eye on the trichomes "heavy crystals" use a hand held microscope and start watching them they go from clear to a milkish white to amber, you want to harvest when you see the milky trichomes for a perkier high, amber trichomes are losing potency and will give you the "couchlock" stone. Dependind on the strain you are growing finish could be a little earlier or later.

Sativa, in general, is an "upper" and "energetic" high, vs. Indica, which is a "dduuuhhhhh" high, lol.

Sativas take a little longer than Indicas, the key is too watch the trichromes not the darkening "hairs" so to speak, I am growing Master Kush (indica) indoors and at 5- 6 weeks more than half the pistils, "hairs" are beginning to darken but the trichromes are still very clear, I watch them and usually harvest at 7 1/2 weeks. Sativas are a much more uplifting high, but any strain can become a "couchlock" variety if let mature too long. Your pics show that you are going to be a happy camper in a few more weeks! Good luck and enjoy!

Looks good.

DO NO HARVEST EARLY (white trichomes)! You have a sativa, a fully matured sativa will not couchlock you. Grow her till she is "done."

Are you serious!? It is known fact that if you let trichromes turn amber you are LOSING THC! I have grown Sour Diesal which is a Sativa and let it go too long, 10 weeks in my room, the trichromes turned amber and the stone was one hit and GOOD NIGHT! You need to re-read you marijuana 101 manual and pay attention this time! I cannot stand mis-informed people sharing their lack of knowledge! Know your facts before you open your mouth and save us all the headaches!
By the way, how many years/months you been growing?

ok, i am getting different answers here. let me see if i broke it down properly... clear trichomes are immature, white or milky looking is mature, and amber colored trichomes are , for lack of a better word, overripe? As Mickey told Rocky in rocky II, "hit the one in the middle". i am going to let them go until end of oct., checking the trichomes weekly, when the majority look milky, that is when i will post some pics and get a concensus.
I am not looking for couchlock, this stuff will be shared by friends, taking a 2 hour carpool back home from a job site. don't want to get pulled over and be too stupid to respond to police.. "Can i see your license?" "It's on the back of the car, man"... peace out
