Default alternative to curing jars
ok, did a cure of some bud for the 1st time, went good, but there was an issue
my jars got utterly coated in resin! big time coated
it was sticky bud, so this isn't exactly a complaint, but damn a good amount of resin got on the jar surface
so i got to thinking on an alternative - what about having the bud on a good flat surface, maybe a screen elevated a bit - over that, an air tight box is put over the bud
idea is not to have to shake/move the bud so much, just a gentle rearrangement from time to time
any feedback welcome

I guess I just dont have the sticky icky. What strain was it? Mine stick to the bottle but it doesnt leave alot of residue.

I have somewhat the same but different problem. I dont want a shitload of quart bottles for a large plant so I am going to plastic totes. I will try to get the air tight, dark ones.

I plan to have a series of totes for the different stages of the cure/trim. I cut the plant and hang it for about 4 days to a week depending how hot it is and how dense the bud is. Then cut the plants into mamageable lengths into a tote. Trim buds and into another tote. I turn the finished trimmed bud daily to make sure it gets proper air circulation and no moisture buildup. If too much moisture put in paper bags for a day or too. I try to do the major drying while hanging to avoid moisture buildup.

the only problem i could see with that is, curing with a plastic tote could possibly give you some undesirable smells. plastic is a petroleum based product that does degrade and leak vapors. thats why you should only use plastic water bottles a couple times, because after that toxins from the plastic start to leak into the water

the strain was nl#5
the tote idea is close to what i was mulling over, just on a much smaller scale
idea is that the 'box' is on top, pop the top, and can turn the bud in a softer way than shaking a jar

Just rinse some isopropyl alcohol around the jars and then let the dark colored liquid evaporate. What you are left with is hash

well for 1 thing, you shouldnt shake the jar. i kind of roll mine like it were a concrete mixer. but the best way it to take it all back out and gently re arrange buds back into the jar

that did cross my mind, actually just had made some hash oil from trim
refreshed me on what a messy pain it can be, if you do it enough i'm sure it becomes a lot easier

i really was being as gentle as possible
this is how i started out, a gentle roll, but as time went by the bud seemed to get really sticky
you just couldn't get it to move without a bit more force - and as time went by , the jar got stickier from resin which made the buds stick more

You can get larger than quart size glass jars that are air tight. I bought some large ones, like I could probably set one 2L bottle inside and pour a second 2L bottle in around it and put the lid on and it would all fit. I think it cost me $8-12 from old time pottery.
