Thanks folks! (Ok, maybe I was fishing for some RIU validation )The plan right now is to pull a 1/4 of the plantsat about 30% and the rest at 50%+. Today I started in a 2L of Foxfarms Big Bud and have been suggested by a friend to use Cha-Ching for the last two weeks before I go in to flush. I plan on putting up microscope pics when it gets closer to go time. Question: how long is the period of time when the trichromes start to get cloudy in to when they become amber. i'm asking because I'm trying to gauge when I start to flush. Again, thanks ya'll for dropping in with advice and +rep. I so have the bug for this and am right now working on my indoor set up for grow number two! adios, D |

If the buds are thick and looking almost ready, you can start flushing. If they happen to not be ready exactly 2 weeks into flushing, no biggie. Keep watering and make it a three week flush, as long as the buds are fat don't worry about what you COULD have done. That shit will drive you crazy!
Check out fdd2blk tutorial at the top of the "harvest and curing" posts. He has a couple of pictures that are good examples of when to harvest. Last edited by Masswhole; 09-13-2009 at 05:38 AM.. |

calyx is what he/she meant. It is a part of the plant, google images and you will see. Spelling is not the strong suit on this site. Makes me shake my head in sadness that I am trying to get marijuana legalized and those that support the cause have trouble spelling CAT. Cracks me up. PEOPLE!!!!! WHEN THE WORD YOU TYPE GETS A RED LINE UNDERNEATH IT= SPELLED WRONG! right click on it and correct the spelling, don't be afraid to learn something.

Dont go hydro either. If anything go coco. Way way better than any hydro set up. Read up and research about growing in coco, its unbeatable all the way around hydro. Outdoor growing is way better than any indoor obviously because there is not one lamp or bulb in this world that can come close to the spectrum of colors and everything else that the sun does, that a lamp can.
I believe that Organic, as well as Hydro get a lot of misconceptions. Organic misconceptions really do stem from a lot of unknowns about it. Is it healthier( not much scientific evidence proving so)? Taste better?Smoke better?Better buds/nugs? blah blah blah....but for the most part Organic is, generally speaking, a decent way of growing Cannabis. Be careful not to buy cheap organic soils...as most know Miracle Grow anything suck...IMHO. I just really question whether Organic growing can support or enable a plant to grow to its full genetic potential, without any aid of any fertilizers at all, organic or not. I think true organic would be water, soil, cannabis....that simply....and for many, mostly older people, that's just how they like there bud. Now for hydro. BULLSHIT....so many people are straight up lied to, and get all this hype from rock/rap stars about the "hiddie" being the best pot, its worth more, blah blah blah. SCIENTIFICALLY proven, under no doubt, what so ever, that statistically, regardless of genetics, THC production is drastically higher in outdoor bud, than in, hydroponics, coco( which I am a huge fan of...ill explain why later), aeroponics, or even indoor soil ( which would be one of your better bets as far as indoor growing goes...). For most black market sales of hydro, the buds really do have this distinct smell, and taste....which is mostly due to poor flushing. I will say this though; Hydroponics can be a decent way of growing, but in consideration of the cost ( more/most exspensive form of growing), difficulty ( hydro is very touchy sensitive calibrated mix of chemistry meets botany), and the loss is yield, just dont add up to me. Sure you can sell it at 10 buck a gram if you wish, but Ive never had a problem selling my strawberry cough( or whatever) outdoor bud at much higher cost than hydro. True connoisseurs of cultivation and smoking are very aware that nothing compares to outdoor grown bud. Lastly, coco. All I can say is, instead of writing a book today, please research and learn as much as possible. Its so worth it. Many swear its better than soil. I grow indoor coco for certian strains that take way to long outdoors, and I just love it. Coco is pretty cheap to get started, Ph is really stable. It always holds the perfect amount of moisture, and you can flush coco so sweat. I could really go on and on about coco, so please get into it. Its well worth your money, especially over hydro, on any given day Thanks for hearing me, I hope I helped some ppl today. Any questions or comments just pm me. Till next time, Bong You, and FIRE IN DA HOLE! More so, as far as indoor goes, THC production, general

Today I went in to a hydro shop in Berkely and as I walked in the front room were about 18 pallets of Coco bags stacked 10 ft high. It's clearly where things are trending and I plan to follow suit. My outdoor run has been great, but I'm eager to take things "inside." Last week I picked up some used grow equipment: 3x3x8 Tent (mylar lining - not the toxic shit) 1000 hydrofarm ballast 2 vortex fans 3x3 flood tray. I'm thinking of doing 6 plants and buying two bulbs, an MH for veg and HPS for flower. I have access to great clones so really the last step is figuring out my water/feeding system. If you or anyone else has any input on that or this plan, pls let'er rip. thanks again, D |

We had some rain last night and when I went to shake out the plants I noticed that the Casey Jones plants have some coloration in the hairs. I thought I had about 3-4 more weeks on those, but any feedback would be appreciated.
I used a little magnifying glass for a couple fo the photos. The WW has no orange hairs. Today I'm going to introduce Cha-Ching in with the Fox Farms Big Bud. They had two feedings so far with the Fox Farms and they responded VERY well. The tallest plant is 12ft and the shortest is 9ft. Any and all feedback welcome! gracias, D |

SO.....
Bud worms fist fucked me good. I haven't been in the mood to post progress because the last 3-4 weeks have been very discouraging, but last night was awesome and we're back on track, so I'll give a little update and then add some pics later on today. The first signs of the catepillars/bud worm we a stiffI kick to the nuts. I had 6 White Widow PLants and 5 Casey Jones. 3 of the 5 Casey Jones colas were destroyed out of nowhere. I immediately hopped on RIU and to read up and bought the BT bacteria after taking out as many of those fuckers as I could with tweezers (what I thought was all of them.) A few days later several of the top branches were ravaged through with those worms and that's when we started to get really worried. At that point we had found traces of the worms in some of the WW plants and were worried that we may everything very affected. The trichs were so clear that pulling them wasn't a desirable option. We had no choice on the infested branches and we did cut a lot of the top branches on that were damaged. About 4-5 oz's worth. After drying and curing, the jars still smell like cut lawn. The herb is really stoney, but it smells like garbage. I'm hoping that smell will go away after a few more weeks of curing. Does anyone know if that'll work? Yes, I've been flushing for 10 days. So after that pretty much every other night we would spray all the plants with BT and look through every thing in the evening and were basically at a race against time. I didn't want to pull until we at least at some milk in the trichs, but the worms were invincible and we were risking losing everything. So last night, after some advice from my Arcata friends, I took down about 2lbs just to hedge my bets a little bit. It was surprisingly very little of the total yield, which i'm expecting to be between 14-18oz a plant. Well, even though the thrichs were clear, this herb is lethal. I was hugely stoked. Obviously I'm going to give the other plants as much time as possible, but as of right now I've got two p's of the best smelling grass hanging, preparing to be very loved. I'm hoping by next weekend thet trichs on the plants will milk in and I can pull the rest of it. The pics attached are just a few I snapped yesterday, but when we take the whole crop, I'll take some good photos of everythign and lay them out here. Disclaimer: since this is my first time trimming, these buds don't look great and that dude with bud mustache was a friend of ours helping trim - he was also not very good. For accomplishing what we did as a first timer, I'm still fairly satisfied of where we were able take it. Next time I will probably plant more and be more dilligent about insect prevention, though i'm not really sure what we can do to prevent those worms. They come from moths who aren't really deterred from neem oil, and once you get them, getting rid of them is a borderline impossibility. Thanks again to RIU for all the help to get this far and I look forward to hopefully posting some fully matured, amber triched, white widow from a successful rookie grow that had a few speed bumps. peace, D p.s. sorry for the double post |
