I'm trying to get an idea of how many jars I'll need to purchase, so could someone please give me a rough idea of how much (in grams) can be put into a quart sized mason jar? Say both for curing (not as much right) and for storing?

I usually get 2 lbs per harvest after they dry it takes 50 jars to cure everything. make sure you dont pack them too much and be sure to burp them a couple of times a day. good luck

An ounce fits in a quart jar. I keep some room open though and put around 25 grams in each jar.

I use gallon jars you can fit much more in them and you need a lot less you can get a case of 4 and lids for about 20 $ you can easily fit 4-6 ounces per jar

Check the second hand circuit, senior centers, etc . . . you can find those gallon/quarts for a song if you look around. Maybe Gramma's basement/attic.

You can get a 12 pk of canning quart jars at wallmart for real cheap right now.. Think bout 8 bux or so.. Grab two if you need more..
