Ive just harvested a crop, its been drying for a week now, lost quite a bit weight, but it doesnt smell right, it smells more like hay, the stuff you feed horses lol, if I squeeze or rub the buds i get the proper smell, strange me thinks?

This is my first hydro crop, I think i might have grew these to big and close to the light, maybe a bit heat stress, the cola bud didnt seem to form correctly, like the buds were smallish and spaced out instead of getting fatter and growing into a nice biggun, but the lower buds looked ok even though theywere small,i dont know.

My first crop was organic and was lovely, this one is just strange lol.

Any ideas, what ive done wrong?

id say you picked it a few days to a week early. i call this a beasters effect, but then people get all mad at me saying some shit like "naw i grew OG KUSH not beasters!" mids beasters and headies are not strain related, it has to do with proper growing and curing

putting the bud in jars for a week or two might help. breaking it and it smelling right is a good sign that you didnt loose too much potency

curing is what will help bring the aroma out more.... Good luck man... Also remeber that you are going to be a little more used to a smell becasue you are around it all the time.

Thanks for the reply, i dont think i killed them early, this was 7weeks 3 days, after i switched to 12/12, they seemed to have finished getting any bigger about 10 days b4 i chopped them, although the leaves didnt seem as sparkly from crystals or sticky as last time?, thanks..

def a few days early. most take about 8 weeks from showing sex. but its ok, you have free smoke and thats whats important. next time use a magnifying glass and look at your trichomes

The hairs were 2/3 ginger, and these are 7 week plants apparently lol, im going to get me a magnifing glass for next time.
