The trick is to not let the bud get wet again after the initial drying! Thats what ruins the smell and taste. I hang dry my bud for 4-6 days tops. At this point you can smoke some to try it but its not totally dry. Next it goes into brown paper grocery bags till it feels dry to the touch and smokes pretty good! Usually about 2-3 days is good. Next it goes into double ziplock bags. Check it often and if it starts to feel like its getting wet again to the touch or the smell starts changing, put it back into brown bags for another day or two. You dont want your bud crispy but you want it totally dry! Sometimes I put the brown bags inside plastic bags to slow the drying if its real windy and dry out! After that you can start curing. Curing can take a couple months so most people never know the true quality of their bud because it gets smoked before that. Try it sometime if you can, you will be surprised how much better it gets with some real curing time. Good luck next round!
