Default Ground up bud curing?
I have a quick question. What would happen if you dried out our buds until the stem snaps and then ground it up using some sort of grinder such as this:

After grinding it up you then cured it. Does this have any negative, positive or no affect?

I ask out of pure curiosity. Has anyone tried this before?

I was lead to believe that leaving the plant matter intact was a full part of the process. Once you shred it up it will basically cease to change.

I could be wrong on this, but it makes a bit of sense.

You'd lose some trichs, therefore potency, to the kief catcher. The curing process would totally be different though. With a normal bud, you'd let the outside dry until crispy enough to smoke. Then in the jar curing, the moisture left from the inner part of the bud would wick into the outer dry parts until it was evenly dry.

If you plan to grind the bud into tiny peices, the inner portions (i.e. stems) of the wouldn't be present and as moist. This would cause your ground bud to dry very quickly. It would probably smoke fine, it just wouldn't have as much of full bodied flavor as a normally cured bud would taste.

I personally like to grab chunks and grind it right before smoking - its part of the enjoyable "preparation" of a good spliff!

Thanks for your replies guys. Makes sense to leave the plant in tact and let the curing process take place. I don't really know what made me ask, I figured it would dry faster and cure faster but also figured there'd be some ill affects or else everyone would be suggesting to do it...I just ground up some hermie herb I harvested early and smoked it and it is a decent high, just nasty after taste even in a vortex ice bong thingy...hehe ok thanks again

smoke on

Im getting a grinder but i deceide not to get a four piece grinder. Im getting a 3 piece grinder cause its thinner and also ive got a box with a sifter in it. Its incredible, sitting at home and you open the box and you have EVERYTHING you need, grinder, pollen ctacher, pipe, blunts, papers, roach card, a v-block to roll on and of course, Mary Jane herself. You should take a look at it (sorry for going of topic).
