Why not use some scissors?

It'll take some time...just stick on a movie.

Smile trimming
trimming with scissors, no matter how sharp they may be is a very sticky job and the scissors clog up very quickly.
Do you have to get all of the small leaves from around the buds or can you leave some on. and if left on can they attract mold.
any advice please on these final stages is well recieved.

I guess its up to you on how particular you are about trimming.I take off anything that doesnt have any trichomes on it.Small amount of leaf I dont think will turn your buds mouldy but depends on your drying area.

Pruning maintenance = Spring-loaded Bonsai shears
Chopping the plant = Heavy duty spring-loaded Fiskars
Trimming = kid scissors(cheap, disposable, easy to scrape the hash off)
