ok so im in the middle of harvesting for the first time. this is what i have and what im working on. i have a female and a hermie. the female isnt quite ready. maybe another weeek. the hermie is ready, so that is what i chose to work on first.
i have never done this before, i have book knowledge but figured i would get with a novice or at least some one who has done this before.

i am going stem by stem.
most of the stem is no good as all the bud is at the top part.
as im trimming im trimming most of the leaf off. expecially the fan leaves. the mid leaves im just cutting back a bit. kind of trimming the tips.
should i trim the mid leaves and or the smaller leaves in the bud.
i will be making hash tomorrow with the scrap.
here are some pics of a before and after and maybe someone could tell me what im doing right or wrong???!!! feel free to hit me back as i am in front of the computer doing this....................

this strain is unknown. it is some good merc that i started with before i buy seeds. i know you can go for quality or weight. im not so concerned on the quality more of the weight on this paticular plant. and my camera sucks sorry.

Your harvesting in the middle of your grow??Why??Even if your making hash your plants haven't produced much thc.Did I misunderstand??

your doing ok...but that weed looks awfull mate, you should really check the basics with growing in the FAQ section, it looks very stalky !

i meant they are ready for harvest and i am in the beginning of starting the first plant

i will agree it looks awefull. mind you this was from regular mercial. it is also a hermi plant. i dont remember exactly when it started flowering. i had a journal in my phone and it died on me. non recoverable.
i started these on 2-7-09 from seed though if that helps. i will try and put some better pics on here. i am also oing to put a picture of the female on here and see what you think.
about 70 % of the pistals were turning red and there was a light yellow tint to the trichs. i only have a small magnafine glass not a micro to see the trichs.

is there any other tell tale signs i should look for.??

I guess you got about 2 grams off that (stems included sadly...)

Read the grow FAQ - what lights/nutes did you use by the way?


THIS IS THE GENERAL IDEA:

Plant the germinated seeds and stick them under some proper lights
(I personally use a 125-watt cfl basically covering the whole grow area...ebay, 50 quid)

Water them - pour water on them til it comes out the bottom of the pot and don't water again til the top is dry...you don't need any nutes for about a month when you start them off

Start feeding half strength bio-bizz or some other "grow" nutes after a month then up the dosage after the first week to full strength

Flower when you want to for at LEAST 8-12 weeks (you should have changed plant food to something for "bloom" or "flower" when you started 12-12) , then flush for 2 weeks before chopping...

Just remember - LOTS OF LIGHT, as much as you can...just watch the temperature and make sure to keep the light as close as you can without burning the plant!

it wasnt ready. pistil color is innaccurate. also, to answer the your ?, i'd remove some more leaves from it.
