I was reading a thread on topping plants by a weed growing genius who goes by the name of Uncle Ben. Somewhere in the thread he started talking about how he never flushes. I hear too many different opinions of whether it is better for the plant to be flushed or whether it shouldn't be flushed before harvesting. I have heard that flushing it increases the taste of the bud too..


What do y'all think?

Flush them. Do not top them.

I've heard the same thing. I'm only second grow, so no expert though. But I have grown a lot of other stuff and it really is the same concept. in my opinion. I think curing has more to do with taste than flushing. I especially liked a response to the thread you're referring to by someone who mentioned how you don't see farmers flushing their crops prior to harvest...I'm not gonna flush

i'm not really not sure about not flushing it because i've smoked bud that wasnt flushed and was it disgusing and didnt burn properly.

thats my experience, and was it bad.

It may depend on what it was fertilized with as well. I really don't know. I suppose I could flush 1 and see if there's a difference..sounds like a pain in the ass. Seems to me that the plant should remain healthy until harvest.

If you are usinf chemical fertilizers to grow weed, then they will be in the weed ya smoke if ya dnt flush.

Farmers are going organic now.

Anyone smoked budd grown in MG soil? Does it have a particularly bad taste or no difference? I'm asuming you need to flush your plants well if you use the MG soil/nutrients. This was my first grow and for my next grow im going hydro anyway but just curious...

Alot of people say as lons your organic you dont need to flush I just talked to a very reputable person about this and I told them all about my setup and he says to flush for a good 10 days before harvest which I will be flushing but I will use Molasses the whole 10 days. I am using Organic soil and Organic Nutrients 100% and he recommends the 10 days. You decide whats rite I guess.

You flush because you want to trigger your plant to be unhealthy right before harvest, oh and to get the extra minerals from your nutes out. Have you ever smoked a bowl and had a FAT pile of ass in the bottom? Whhooops someone didn't flush... Have you ever smoked a bowl where everything turned white and when you tapped it out it almost disintegrated before any of it hit the ground? Hmm, good flush. To me I'd rather not smoke all the shit that leaves all the ASS! Also flushing right before harvest triggers the plant into thinking it's dying, which it is because you quit feeding it. This is good, means that the plant will push everything it took into it's leaves back out and into the buds giving them a last little burst of fattness and flavor. (Since the only thing left in the leaves AFTER FLUSHING is sugars and carbs, the stuff that makes your buds tasty.) Don't flush, I don't care, but I wouldn't smoke your shit.

You do not want your plants to be unhealthy, that's not the goal of flushing, it's to get rid of excess nutes.
I have always flushed, once I did not flush a plant just to see and it was really harsh and the nugs didn't burn as they should have.
Flush with three times water to the size of the pot, and give it a full two weeks before harvest.
You need to always flush your plants...
As for topping/fimming, do it if you have the space and are still vegging.
