I want to make a home made box and after an hour of looking I can't find much. Anyone know of any plans or at least where to get the silk screen and what size or type to get? Also when using bud trim should it be dry?

Most boxes I've seen have a very small micron metal screen, likely aluminum or stainless steel. It's not that hard to make one. It's basically some small pieces of wood, you need small nails, and you need need to predrill the holes for the nails to hold the screen. Then use wood glue to attach the two pieces to hold the screen. Most I've seen are held together by wood glue & small nails. Then a mirror in the bottom, or just glass, sometimes a small metal box.

It's a high precision task. If you're not a woodworker, just buy one.

Yea, dried & cure is better.

You can also get a kief grinder, it's not the best, but it's damn close. You can make hash balls from it(though it'd take a lot).

I am a woodworker so I should ba able to do it. Anyone know where to get tha metal screen Thanks for the help tea tree. Any good brands out there that you would recommend if I did buy one?

Well, that's a big question. The bigger the micron the more particulate matter. The smaller it is, the better the kief, but the easier it gets clogged.

I bought a $30 kief grinder that works quite well at a head shop. Most I've seen that are large and wooden w/mirror are between $100-300.

i got a very nice kief box from http://www.bcboxes.com/

it has a 100 micron metal screen and black glass on the bottom. got it for $70....

i would highly recommend a metal screen as they are way easier to clean than silkscreen. i also brush my screen with a toothbrush to get all the trics out.. it works great.

Im new to this type of thing but Im trying to gain as much knowledge as possible, in a few sentences what is a "Kief box" or Kief Grinder used for?

a kief box is a screen that you break up ur buds on and the trichomes/ crystals fall to the glass under the screen. then you scrape up the powder and you have kief.

the grinder... has a top you open, you put buds inside, and twist the top and it grinds ur buds to perfect joint rolling consistency. it has holes in it covered by a screen so the kief can fall to the bottom part that unscrews. you unscrew the bottom and you have kief in it.

but the kief box is better in my experience.
