Hey guys, first time grower here. So i've read that getting those amber trichs going is nice before harvesting, but also that you want to harvest after x% of the pistils change color. It's possible i'm just not looking at the trichs correctly since i've never done this before but i can't see anything amber about any of them. i'm looking at them with a 30x loupe. the plant is an indica and it's been around 65 days of flowering. as the thread title says around half the pistils are orangey now. so, what to do?

Go by the color of the trichomes and the trichomes alone and do not concern yourself about pistil color. If you are shooting for a heavy couch-lock stone wait until the trichomes are amber. If you want a little bit more of a head high harvest when your trichomes are milky white. If you want a combination of head high and stone harvest when you have some milky white trichomes and some amber trichomes.

Take those pic's from Brick Top to the bank, bro... I took some of mine down when they were dominated by cloudy trichs with a few amber -- it's definitely rushy and energetic, just like the picture says. I did that on purpose, as I always seem to be able to find shit that makes me lethargic and lazy.

It really does depend on what you want from your high. The pistils do turn color somewhat in concert with the trichs, but the degree to which one matches the other varies tremendously by strain. So, I would just ignore what you see or read about pistil color and focus on the trichs.

Be sure to check your plant in a variety of places -- top, bottom, side branches, main colas. Different parts mature at different times, and some strains mature top-down; others bottom-up.
