Default Drying Outdoors?
Hi guys, I was wondering if it's possible after harvesting plants to dry them outdoors? I do not have a safe place indoors due to smell and others in the house.

I was thinking of cutting the stalks somewhere near the bottom of each plant before the roots and hanging them on strings somewhere in a forest. I would be planning to string lines of twine from tree to tree and hang the plants upside-down on them.

Is this possible?

Also anyone have any ideas if i could construct some kind of drying box to keep them in?

Thanks in advance.

Big rubbermaid plastic box with cover and holes on the side covered with mesh to block bugs...
then a small covering for the small holes to not let rain water in...
then make layers of screen or mesh inside the box to place the actual nuggets, no stems or leaves..
put a small battery fan non stop like this one and let it dry until u think its done.. you will have to change D batteries every 2 days

If you just hang dry them outdoors, rain and humidity can give u mold, and the sun can overdry your buds to a crisp...so check the weather and build a good drying box.
Also make sure you leave the box at a shady, hidden area so nobody else walks away with a box full of buds...

You know your idea about hanging, it will take a little while longer in the shade of the tree, and you may have to constuct a Camo or green tarp cover hanging just above the stalks. I think the cure would be superior to sun dried. If your doing long term storage, say in Mason Jars. You might want to sun dry them one day, after you hang them for a few days to a couple weeks, depending weather. Once dry cured under the tarp, give them a nice hot sunny dry and seal them before the humidity rises from the evening. Once sealed they should be good for many months, I bury mine, like old timers and money.
