Default hang plant upside down?

Is there any benifit from hanging the whole plant upside to dry? it didnt sound right to me but i was just checking..

well the top bud looks almost done I saw a couple of amber trichs. the rest of them look like they have some growing to do (all clear trichs). can i cut the top bud off and leave the rest grow without damaging it??
