I'm coming up on about a week until I harvest.

My concern is the smell. I will go down to check on my plants (they are in basement), and day to day the plants smell different. Some days when I go down the stairs, I can already smell the plants before I open the room & it smells like DANK skunk.

Other days when I go down and into the room, I can barely smell them. Even sticking my nose into the main buds / colas. They def. have a smell, but it seems like other days are better than some.

I'm wondering for when I harvest, should I harvest on a day where it smells dank / skunky? Or will it eventually get its good 'stinkyness' from the drying and curing?

The smaller buds past like 1/4 the top of the plant ALWAYS smell skunky, it just seems like the main colas on all my plants - change their smell day to day.

Is there anything I could do to control the smell? Anything special to water it with? Any special period of darkness?

I WANT them to smell dank. Stinky isn't a problem with me.

carbon filter best job got rid of the smell of my cheese and skunk plants.. ya need a microscope mate chech for colour change of your pistils amber what ye lookin 4.........if ya been givin any nutrients mate wash them out with a rediculous amount of water for 10 days no less and you will have the most mouth waterin weed youll ever smoke ..... good luck dirkyd

zave - the smell/taste really comes out after you cure for at least a week. you can start watering with some unsulphered mollasses in your water, this helps add a little flavor and bulks up your girls.

Yup mine will do the same thing. To me it seems like the day after they're watered they will loose there smell. My guess is the plant swells up with water and dilute whatever gives it is smell. Dont check the pistels either go by your trichromes. I just flushed my two babies onh friday. This thursday will be 8 weeks so I probably wont nute anymore. Just phed water and some molasses.1tbl per gal

See, I stressed that I WANT it to stink for a reason, and I knew someone would still post something to help me get rid of smell.

SlikWiLL13 - I've been flushing for 3 weeks, and watering with Brer Rabbit unsulfured molasses for about a month.

I know about checking the Trichomes and not pistols.

Why did dirkyd have to bring up irrelevant things that I wasn't asking.

dirkyd - Check the link in my post to look at my album. Trust me, I've got a pretty good understanding of what I'm doing. Not saying I'm PRO, but you bringing up that information in this post is just going to make it come up when people aren't searching for it. Also dirkyd - If you're going to post on here and try and help people, try reading and learning stuff on your own. The information you're supplying people with is incorrect.

I did look up the smell thing, with no positive results. Thats the only reason I started a new thread for it.

zave, try an experiment next time. i used to be a hard flusher like you and i recently have had enough evidence put in front of me to make me try flushing less. i used to do 3wks like you and had great tasting herb, then i tried only 2wks and still had the same great weed, next i only flushed a week with the same results. this run around im only gonna flush for 3 days and i bet its still all good. i also think the extra nutes are making my buds bigger each time too.
