Hey all, I was thinking about getting a food dehydrator to dry my buds when I harvest them. Will that work or will it ruin them? If that isn't an option, what is the fastest, most effective way to dry?

If you dry the bud too fast I hear it will make it harsh

Hmmm, ok. Anybody have any experience on that? If you dry it too fast it becomes harsh?

If you get a food dehydrator that is adjustable to dry with a low temp it wont be to harsh, but slow dry is better

all you need is a 30gal rubbermaid tub, a 80cfm canfan, and an exacto knife. Put the fan on one end of the tub, so its sucking air out of the tub. On the opposite end, cut a bunch of holes (but not too manY) so that youll have an evenly distributed airflow through the tub. Then just put some hemp lines at the top of the tub on the inside, so you can hang your buds from them. Simple and cheap. Your buds will be dry within 3 days, and you can go right to cure. thats a damn good idea... i hung mine in the closet last time... this plant im gonna harvest in 4 weeks is way better then the last one..so i want full potential .. +rep for that i've got a bunch of rubbermaid tubs

ive dried full grown plants within like 3 - 4 days.


I had to cuz of bud rot, so what i did was just hang them all in my closet with a fan sucking out all the moisture in the room,

then a had a little space heater in there that kept the room at whatever temp i dialed in

i kept them like 86 deg f in the room for a good 2 nights, they were all dry by day 3 or 4


but yes it will make it harsher and this method is not ideal and not recommended, but it works

your best bet it to dry properly and dont rush them. if you wanna smoke just cut a non dense piece off and put it in the oven at around 170 deg f for about 10 min, and you will have a completly dry bud.


it may take 20 min depending on the size of the piece.


that way u smoke out while u let your plants dry and cure correctly

Ok. Those all sound like good ideas. I like the idea about using the 30 gal tub because then it's easy to move around and somewhat stealth. What exactly is a CFM CanFan though?

cfm just stands for cubic feet per min and that is how they measure a fans power

like u could get a 50 CFM fan and it will blow 50 cubic feet per min of air.

Forget the CanFan. That's too expensive just for drying bud.
Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a small inline duct fan for less
than $20. Hook that up to your Rubbermaid and off you go.
