Default Curring Temp
What up,

14 days of curring in the jar and opening it every day. The smell still isn't good, better, but not good, and I don't want to smoke any more until it's curred properly.

The weed jar is in a crawl space which is dark, dry (humitity 15%), and chilly 55-65 F. Is the cold climate slowing my cure to a crawl? Should bud cure in room temp or colder?

How long should I continue to open the jar regularly? I've been opening it since I begain curring 2 weeks ago. Should I now just let it sit for a month or two without opening it?

Should I break the bud apart?

Temp seems fine, but if you can keep it in the 60-70* range that would be more ideal, you have to realize that curing takes awhile because your evening the moisture out in all the buds to the same level, then allowing fresh (more dry) air into the jars to slowly draw more moisture from your sweet tasty nugs. Since you have done it for 2 weeks already, open the jars once per week for 10minutes, do this for the next 2 weeks, if they are still not to satisfaction open once every 2 weeks for 10 minutes. Also what strain is your ganja, and did you flush? Did you harvest with lights off? If you did not flush and/or harvested with the lights on your bud will take longer to cure before it starts to smell great, taste great, and most importantly smoke well.

a smaller jar would help- or put more bud in the jar?

That would slow the cure down...if you think about it. Smaller jar(same amount of buds)= less dry (fresh) air in the jars, less dry (fresh) air=longer period of time to draw moisture from the buds. More buds in the same jar will mean less air can be in the jar, and less air + more buds equals less moisture removed from each bud so the cure is slowed down once again. Mason jars 3/4 full, you dont want to mash your babies all together into the jars right? right.

Wow I just realized you have a single cola in that jar...is that all the bud your curing?
Also GENETICS play a big role in how a strain will smell, so find out what strain you have, and what everyone else's smells like, and work towards that...or perhaps your already there, and thats just the strain.
