Hey all, this is my first time growing, and after hacking off the top bud of this plant, i read that you're supposed to harvest by the TRICHOMES, not the HAIRS...so i am seeking advice about that...

I cant tell if they are clear or if they are cloudy -- and im not too sure if these pics will help -- they're as close as i could get the camera to focus... should i try using a microscope?

Oh, background -- shes about 5 months old, vegged for 2 months, been in flowering for now 3. shes tiny, but thats because i ALSO just learned that lumens dont add (seriously...seems like they should tho, right?) my grow area has 2 - 100watt HPS lights, and 2 - 70watt HPS lights, all about a foot above the top of the plants

side note: im investing in some new lights -- if ANYONE knows where to get them super cheap, or is even getting rid of their current setup to upgrade themselves, im looking for either 1 1000watt grow light, or maybe 2 600watt grow lights? -- but any info on this would be especially helpful

where was i...oh yeah, and the 4 lights are in the corners of a 5x6 area with white sheets on the wall. she's only ever been fed water, and is growing in miracle grow moisture control soil. i started her off in a 1 oz peat pot until she was about a week, then moved her to a solo cup (with holes in the bottom) till flowering and then put her in a 12x12 plastic pot.

according to the site i bought the seeds from, shes already a month "past-due." but for all i know the trichomes are already cloudy and im heading toward body hight....but i just want to make sure.

oh, would it help to post a pic of the cut bud?

I'v grown ice before beautiful while in bloom next time you'll get bigger buds if you use a gallon sized pot for the veg cycle because the roots need room for bigger buds just a FYI

hmm -- so more room for the roots earlier on? have you (or anyone) ever planted more than one see together? is that possible?

they look good actually, im sure you could let it go for another 2 or 3 weeks if u want dude, but it def looks good enouigh to harvest...imo anyway

I'm finishing up my first grow ever with ice. I used 4 fluorescents for two months of vegging and a 400w hps I got from high tech garden supply online. I got a pretty decent amount of bud too. The plant fell over its so heavy on top. I grew in a flood and drain tray...definately check that light out though. It was like 100 bucks.

hott damm!!! ur right -- i got a 400 watt for $140 -- love it!

im gonna get another one in a month ... and then maybe another!

that brings up a good question -- would it be better to have a few 400s, or 1 big 1000? im guessing it would depend on how you grow...
