im pretty sure its to ensure that the moisture in the bud is all evenly dispersed. lighting might mess that up for the outside part of the flower. a good room temp of 75 is good but ive heard of mold problems occurig during the curing process so be carefull. id try 85 degrees to be safe i guess cuz mold doesnt grow that great at that temp. but if u avoided mole then anywhere in between is perfect.

its best to keep your drying buds in a cool dark place between 70-75 and humidity always below 50% anything higher than that will just invite mold.
also try and keep your buds from coming into contact with each other once again inviting mold. And about the light prolonged exposure to light will degrade thc over time into other compounds. This wont happen overnight so it OK if you got to turn a light for a bit, but don't make it a habit.

I'm not an expert but there are two reasons, as I understand... one, plants contain photo-sensitive chemicals (chlorophyll, etc.) that you don't want reacting to light during the cure. The second, and probably the most important reason, is that THC will degrade with light expossure.

Notice that in all cases after the harvest, including drying, curing and storing, keeping light off the the buds is always recommended for longest shelf-life. That being said, a little bit of room light isn't going to hurt them, but the majority of the time the harvested buds do best in a cool, dry and dark environment.

i dry mine in a room that gets part time light, not sunlight, but just some lightbulbs in the room, it really isnt that big of deal i dont think. Some people dry them in barns and shit, at least thats what ive seen in growbooks. If u don't have a completely dark place i think your all good.

you want the chlorophyll to die and get out of your dank buds. thats why it changes from really green to light green or even brown n all that. chlorophyll taste bad thats why quick dried buds taste bad they are full of it still. commercial regs are sun dried and thats why they taste bad too. slower drying makes it come out more so it taste smoother also. light is energy and plants use energy to make things. you want your buds dead as hell
