I harvested a Masterkush plant at 60 days flowering. Hung whole plant from line after a rough trim. After 5 days, plant was a little crispy on the outside, so I took her down and placed into Jars to start cure. This plant had hardly any smell growing. Now since the cure has started the smell went from first being like hay, now it damn near smells chemically!! Is this normal or did I overlook something?

how long have you been curing for?

It's probably ammonia you're smelling, it will go away after you've sweat the water out and finished the cure. Then again it might be what the weed smells like.

You say it wasn't odorous when you harvested... Sounds unlikely... Are you sure your nose works?

Actually, sweating the weed and curing in jars is a process of fermentation, the sugars are converting and the weed becoming more tasty and fragrant. Ammonia is a byproduct, and you have to burp the jars (open them for a sec) in order to release the noxious gasses.

i doubt it didnt smell, cuz when i was growing one plant, anyone that came over could smell it but I was obvlivoius.

My first grow during drying smelled like hay. I fecking panicked. Because they were pretty brittle already I went straight to the jars. During burping they fecking smelled like everything from chemicals to pickles. I fecking panicked. After 25 curing, it still smells rather unique but pleasant to me. And by the way, the shit is kickass. Check out the first journal.Don't worry, be happy.

great job on ur first harvest u may of just got weed that smelt like ammonia (catpee is a strain like that)
u flushed 4 b4 u harvested right? if u did how long?

and when ur in a room full of plans for a while believe me ur nose will adjust to it while everyone else is like "did u just toke up without me?"
if u wanted to get a good idea of how it smells inside ur house just chill outside 4 30mons and then come back in and get a good whiff and tell me u don't need to work on ur odor control lol

ya flushing before harvest helps, my first harvest did the same thing and it slowly went away but the smoke was kick ass and that is what you are after not the smell.
