right now, ive never tried hash, and dunno if i have the time or want to spend it building the honey bee extractor to make hash. so i was thinking about doing cannabutter with my trimmings instead.

is this a good idea? does cannabutter extract as much thc? or is hash just that worth it?

Well some of my bud rot so i made some hash and imo it's WORTH IT (I've ended up making hash with all my plants) - here's an example - normally i have a couple of pipes of weed in the evening and get really stoned,but when i tried my home made hash i couldn't even finish 1 pipe !!
I just use the blender and ice method....cheap/quick and REALLY EASY.

Would you care to elaborate on the "blender and ice method"? im inrested in that

put all ur trimmingings into a 5 gal. bucket with water and a SHIT LOAD of ice..blend away for a good 20 min..then u dump the water into bubble bags..and wala! every bag u pull out has a diff.grade of hash!..i dunno if u have the bubble bags or not..but thats how i do it!

I make iso hash, it's really easy. Take you trim and put it in a jar, fill with rubbing alcohol an inch above the trim and shake for a couple of minutes. Pour the mixture thru a coffee filter into a pyrex or glass dish, wait a couple of days for everything to evaporate and your left with hash. Use a razor blade to scrape it up.

Ice cubes
water
trim
strainer
paper coffee filter and some type of stand for the filter
large measuring cup or bowl

Trim is lighter than water and floats so could possibly be a witch, trichomes are heavier than water and sink therefore are not witches. This simple, but fool proof, method of seperating good and evil not only works for the Bush administration but gives us the magic of ice water hash.

1. Half fill the blender with water, put in freezer IF the blender pitcher is freezer proof. Bring water as close to 0 C as possible without damaging the blender pitcher. The mechanical action created by the blender will knock the trichomes off the trim, the lower temperature makes their stalks brittle and easier to break.

2. Add just enough ice cubes to cover top of the water, if you couldn't put the blender pitcher in the freezer you should let the ice/water mixture sit until the water is close to 0 C. Obviously more ice will be needed.

3. Add trim and put top on blender pitcher

4. Blend for 10 to 20 min, adding small amounts of ice as it melts. Stop occasionally to push trim off the sides of the blender pitcher and into the water.

5. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes, GENTLY stirring/pokeing-at the floating trim every few minutes to stir off any loose trichs from the trim. Don't push the floating trim deep in the water, the trichs are sinking and we don't want to disturb them.

6. Scoup out the floating trim then pour the remaining liquid though a wire mesh strainer if possible, to remove any peices of floating trim missed during scouping. Clean the strainer of trim before pouring the lower half of the water through so trichomes don't get caught on the trim.

7. Put the paper coffee filter and stand in the measuing cup/bowl, pour the liquid in the blender pitcher through the paper coffee filter. Pour a small amount of water into the blender pitcher and swoosh around to collect any stray trichomes, pour this through the coffee filter.

8. Let the paper coffee filter dry, gently tear open at the seams, scrape hash off the paper coffee filter with a plastic debit card/licenses/etc.

9. Let the hash sit until dry, then use/prepare as desired.

I've got a 4 cup measuing cup and a strainer that fits on top perfectly, I just put the coffee filter in the strainer and let the clean water drip through.
