Post Curing Question---?
Alright so i just harvested and have been drying my buds in brown paper bags for the last like 4-5 days, but most of it has been dried so its able to blaze..i tested it out today..it was dank, but the only problem is that the taste is harsh..i believe this is from drying it in a brown paper bag, and also the bud has turned like a kinda brownish color, but its still got some green and you can see the crystals on it. it still smells great..i just want it to taste good..anyway i could fix that? my idea was i would put the dried buds back in this air-sealed jar that i put the buds in at first and there sweat is still all in there and the jar smells godly..i was wondering if i threw that dried bud back in the jar and followed the jar curing procedure could i make my bud taste good? or is it kind of too late for that? please help me out guys. thanks

Yes put them in air-tight jars for the cure process. Its not too late. Curing them will slow the drying process, and let the rest of the starches, and nitrites (these are what give the harsh taste) out of the buds. How did you harvest? Did you do 2 weeks of flushing prior to harvest(indoors), or did you harvest a day after a heavy rain storm (outdoors)? Did you harvest before the lights came on (indoors), or prior to dawn (outdoors)? How long were the plants in the dark prior to harvest? Giving them atleast 12 hours of darkness allows for all or nearly all of the sugars, starches, ect. to drain from the plant to the root system.

Depending on how you awnser those questions will tell us how long you should cure for. 10-14 days is normal, but for people who don't flush, harvest in the light, ect. longer curing times are needed, because it takes time to ease the harshness of the taste.

I harvested a day or two after a few days of heavy rain storms (outdoors). I harvested prior to dawn. The plants were in the dark atleast 14-15 hours before harvest.

Curing will allow the remainder of starches and sugars to break down, the color will even out, it will bring out more of the the crystals (trichs), it will smoke smoother. If you plan on making money from your harvest curing is a must!! It will give it bag appeal.

10-14 days will be a good cure for you.

It does "bring" them out. They are already there Curing the buds draws moisture from the center of the buds. Removing of the moisture changes the THC from an acidic non psychoactive form to a neutral psychoactive for which gets us bbblllaaazzzeeeddd!!

Right on!! ^^^^ You won't believe the difference in the trichs. In fact the buds look 100X better after at least a 2 week cure. Here are a few pics that show the difference, these were from the same harvest. The uncured were cut about 2 weeks after the cured ones. Believe me though, same strain, same grower, same room, same mother!! Curing makes a difference, not only in the taste and the way it smokes but the looks. Curing definitely brings out the "crystals" or trichs and the colors.

curing should help with the taste and harshness. Also did you flush the last week or two b4 harvest? that's one reason why your smoke would be so harsh

We covered this one already He harvested 2 days after HEAVY rain storms. So the flush was good.

Yummy looking Herer, I grabbed a few O a while back, best investment I've made in a while lol. Too bad its not too often to find it around here...probably one of the strains I will start to grow in the next year
