    Default harvested some seeds

just before flowering i like to top my plants and instead of wasting the top i like to clone it. Its a good way to get a few extra grams and or you could do what i did and use a male to pollinate it to get a bunch of seeds for next year without the risk of pollinating your main plants. I barely pollinated this one and got over a hundred seeds.

Cool man! I've been thinking of doing something similar for my next grow/first cloning attempt...

How do you know when the seeds are ready/will germinate? Anything i should keep an eye open for so I don't harvest too early and get duff seeds?

i like to wait until the seed pods turn brown and die. this usually takes between 5-7 weeks after pollination. If you wait this long to harvest them then dry them for a month you will have very close to 100% germ rate.

So, I've got a male that I'm thinking of using to make some seeds (with a female, of course). I was going to take this approach:

    1. Place two plants next to each other
    2. Bend the branches of the mail (taller) over to the female and tie them together
    3. Place a plastic bag over a branch or two to keep the pollen local

    Ideas/thoughts?

    Questions:

    1. How long into flowering should the male/female be before attempting pollination?
    2. What do you do with the male after this process (toss it)?

nepali grizzly, thanks for the info. I pollinated a plant, my first time growing and I wanted seeds for the future. I didn't really know how long to let them go. I pollinated the plant as soon as it started to flower with a male that was waaaaaaaayyyyyy ahead of it. The seeds seem to be growing fat, pods not browning at all yet, but the buds that started after that are looking pretty nice. I think it has been going for about a month and a half. Haven't really kept track. Hoping to get a good amount of smokable bud that started long after I pollinated.

Should I just wait for the buds to be ready, or should I go by the browning of the seed pods? Think the plant needs at least another 4 weeks. My first priority is the seeds, second is getting something smokable. Thanks +rep.

yea siin82 I think your idea will for sure work, but it may be hard to control the stray pollen from other plants.

    1. I've had best results pollinating the female at week 3-4 of flowering. As for the male I just collect the pollen in a pill container when lots of the pods are open and sprinkle it over the female.
    2. After successful pollination I just toss it.

yeah these seeds are huge, they are nepalese grizzly f3's.

I'm not too sure if waiting an extra 4 weeks would be ok or not. I like to wait a week after the pods go brown and pick but 3-4 weeks may be too long. Just wait and see.

Thanks! Will wait for the pods to go brown and then pick a week after. May just be that browning pods and flowers maturing happen at the same time. We'll see!
