First time grower. After cutting down my plant I used the brown bag method to dry the buds in a dark area for about 2 weeks while turning the buds every so often. However, the buds themselves have not compressed into that ideal compressed state. Any ideas on how to make the buds compress? Thanks in advance. By the way the is an outdoor grow of Orange Bud.

they dont compress on their own
it is now dry you have to cure
put in glass with lid
take lid off for about 30 mins each day

I think he is trying to describe light and fluffy nugs not shitty compressed weed. newbie22- some plants produce very airy bud which would be very different in texture and density than what you are used to buying.

If that is the case you only have a few options:
1. Light source- most frequently you will hear this when people do CFL grows without enough light they end up with airy and fluffy nugs. Easiest fix get a 1000 HPS-but you are outside so unless you don't have direct sunlight this should not be your issue.

2. Genetics- sometimes you end up with a lady that just does not make dense bud. Apart from using bloom nutes and stuff like that you can't do much about genetics other then breed them out or get a new strain. I have one girl that makes bud that looks dense but it is as squishy as a cotton ball, nothing I can do about it.

3. Harvesting- since you don't have pics there could be potential issues with your harvest times (such as too early), drying schedule (never done paper bag, never done 2 weeks).


All in all if it tastes good and gets you in the right place you should be happy. Don't sit on it or crush it just get a better strain or move indoors with a serious light for flowering.

I wrap my arger buds with some light fishing line for 1 day and than unwind and let dry. seems to work great at making the nugs quite a bit denser.
