ive got 2 bottles of absinthe the proper stuff does anyone know the best way of getting it down as i dont know what would have the best effect cheers everyone

that shit tastes horrible, best thing to do is get it over with and just do shots of it.
they have ways with sugar cubes and all that stuff but any of it still tastes bad to me.
i mixed it with jaegermeister one time and did shots of it that way.

Hi, the answer is to pour iced water very slowly into a measure of absinthe at a ration of 1 part absinthe to 4-5 parts water. If you want to add sugar use an absinthe spoon (or a fork) with a sugar cube and pour the water through. You should see the liquid clouding and that is the louche, the herbal oils being released. Enjoy.

When you say "the proper stuff" may I ask what the label says?

is it sebor from chech republic most othes contain no thougone (dont know how to spell) because its banned over most the world because its corrosive to the eyes hence the expression blind drunk.

Make a simple syrup. 1:1 sugar/water ratio, in a small saucepan, bring just to small boil and turn off heat... Let cool, and pour into whatever you like!

Absinthe is good in moderation, or else the alcohol takes over...

It is meant to be tasted and has some very odd effects such as extra sensory awareness to a whimsical world. I suggest to get a mint leaf and let it soak at room temperature for an hour or you could use a bud. You could add a piece of liquorice and let it melt - the green kind. That will add to the flavor if it is not that potent in taste. Other than that it is meant to be a sipping drink and not a shot glass horror.

I've got a bottle of some pretty good absinthe that i've had since the fourth of july. It's supposed to be the real deal with the real wormwood and all, but the effects were like what LiveVibe was discribing. I wouldn't say I've had hallucinations...more like I was spinning out of control and my vision was extremely blurred like I was very very drunk (but w/out drinking as much as I would any other liquor). It doesn't taste that bad to me, but each time I prepared it using the standard leuche method with sugar and water. Would I buy it again? Prolly not, but it was fun and exciting to try...especially after seeing it on Eurotrip and all... At least the bottle looks really cool.
