I posted this on a different thread and realized that it might be helpful, so I am going to put it here so everyone can benefit from it.

I have tripped shrooms more times than I can count. I wish someone would have showed me this trick earlier because after you do this you'll never go back to munching shroooms again.

For anyone that hasn't tried them yet: Mushrooms taste like dog shit. Tripping shrooms is amazing but chewing them up always made me want to barf. I used to have to psych myself out before eating them and would gag the whole time. One day a friend of mine showed me how to brew shroom tea and I will never go back to eating them again. Here is a simple recipe:

1. Put your mushroom dose in a coffee grinder and grind it up.

2. Boil some water. As soon as the water reaches a light boil, remove it from the heating element. its important that the water isn't boiling when you add your ground mush. if the water is too hot it will kill a lot of the psilocybin and we don't want that.

3. Let the water sit for about a minute after removing it from the heat

4. Add mushrooms and let steep for about 8-10 mins.

5. Strain mushroom bits from the liquid using a coffee filter or fine mesh.

6. Throw away the mushroom debris, don't worry about eating it, all of the good stuff has been extracted into the water.

7. Enjoy!


The raw mushroom tea will have a musty, earthy taste. If you like, you can also throw in a tea bag to make the brew more palatable. I've found that black tea is a good choice, cinnamon and cloves also help add a nice flavor.

not only does the tea taste a million times better than eating the mushrooms, but it also reduces the uncomfortable shroom-tummy that you get before the trip. I made this tea for some friends that were experienced schroom-trippers and they raved about it. I brewed it up, split it into equal portions, we made a toast to our trip and bottoms up! see you in Narnia!

good stuff man. i always put my shrooms in pantyhose and tie it off as kind of a homemade brew bag for the shrooms.

i normally end up making koolaid with it but have done tea

yeah, before I stopped eating them I was putting them in Big Macs. it covered it kinda well. I just dont like having gritty shroom bits in my teeth. plus making tea helps with the nausea. cant beat it, even if it is just a few caps and stems.

I like to add sugar and pour the tea over ice, but then again I'm in the south!

i actually enjoy the taste. they have their own "flavor" so to speak and find the after taste much more enjoyable than acid atleast.

i think the great feeling i am about to get out weighs the taste. and they certainly taste different from dry to wet.

think i prefer dry but have eaten them fresh.

oh well to each his own.
