how many poppies does it take to make a gram of opium?

isnt there a whole process to make opium from poppies? You probably need a lot of poppies to make a small amount of opium.

you don't harvest the poppies you milk them in a way, you slice them every few days and collect the black opium gum.

thats what I thought
I just wasnt sure if each poppy varied in the amount they produced or if it was relatively the same no matter what

i make opium from poppy seeds...its varied from amount and where you get the seeds from. u will need about 300 grams for 1 oral dose...for a whole gram you will need atliest 1000 grams of seeds and alot of time on your hands.
for the best seeds i have found to be the most potent look for the milky white seeds as they are stronger
..what i do i make the usual poppy seed tea with around 600g seeds putting them into a 2 litre bottle and shaking with luke warm water, letting it settle, shaking for about an hour. the more you shake the more is absorbed, and you can add some lemon juice to help it but not too much just a few drops and drain the water
squeeze the poppies for excess alcaloids and your left with a milky brown liquid

you can take it like this by drinking it, but what i do is evaporate the water, by placing the solution on a plate or bowl on a heat mat, like the ones used for exotic animal, a radiator would also work, and if you cant use those i suppose you could use a very low heat on an oven, but dont heat them too much as that could destory the potentness

your left with a brown dry powdery residue thats pretty much opium, that can be smoked in spliffs very well as its very dry, i suggets smoking it as it goes alot furtherm just like weed. its not as good as the tar opium, but sure as hell doest the job

ive made tea with whole pods but never seeds the tea worked well but tasted horrible. seeds are easier to come by i see them at the market how or where do you get 1000 grams or more at a time i would like to try your method of smoking the seed residue extract. are you just buying lots at the market?

Much has been written to support the fact that seeds contain little, if ANY, psychoactive properties. Most likely you are getting a bit of tar from "contamination". Check out some real info on some opium forums; don't post opinion that gives people bad info.
It takes a lot of poppies to get a gr of O, but it's not too hard. The flower opens at about 90 days, and the petals fall off after a couple of days. Now you'll see the pod, which will grow and swell for 10-14 days. The color changes from green to a hazy blue and the the little spikes on the crown will point up. To harvest you scratch the pod - sometimes I use a needle, sometimes an x-acto, but the cut is very shallow. You should see latex oozing immedietely; this is pure raw opium and can be used as is. The Chinese cook it down, the Hmong people smoke it straight.
My advice is to collect latex and save it until you have a decent amount, otherwise you don't quite get there and you,ve used up your O. I sometimes wipe the pods with some gauze and just let it dry. Use the same cloth for awhile and keep letting it dry. when you finish harvesting the pads are soaked in water to release the O. Evaporate the H2O and you have pure O. (Water should go thru a coffee filter before evap.)
Most people let the pods dry on the stalk and grind them, minus the seeds, to make tea. 2 or 3 pods is a lot like a few percs.
Poppies are opposite MJ in many ways:
* O is water soluble, MJ resin is not
* Poppies flower in a long day, short night
* Poppies like the PK early, and the N at flower.
My seeds were scattered in March and are coming up nicely- if you want to plant, do it now. Remember, they need the long days in July to flower.

yeh the supermarket, they come in 100gram packs in a big Sainsburies and for 1000gram you need 10 packets which at 30p a pack = £3.00

i would buy this on top of your weekly supermaket shop as it is maybe kinda wierd just buying 10 packs of poppys seeds buy itself
its not the poppy seeds that are psychoative but the opium residue left on the seeds, it depends if they are treated, spareyd or washed to remove it
it really depends on where you live and where the poppy seeds were grown, id say in the US they are sprayed and are very weak, but in the uk its pretty ok. its not really psychoactive if you are a opium addict, but if you havent indulged much or at all it is potent enough
