dxm anyone?

I believed it caused Olney's lesions in rats, so people believe it drills tiny holes in the brain or something like that. I wouldn't know.
There's no such thing as "drilling holes" in the brain. What that rumor refers to is what the image of a brain with olneys lesions looks like. Normally a brain would show active areas (groups of neurons doing certain tasks), but with olneys lesions certain commonly used areas go dark because there is little to no activity (possible damage from dxm use).

Some of what I remember from being stupid enough to try that shit as a teenager: uhhhh let's see, not being able to feel my body, I guess that was cool... followed by intense, painful vomiting and dry heaving, or curling into the fetal position wondering why the fuck I would decide to do that crap again.

A few friends of mine actually got pretty seriously addicted to it, for quite some time. From every weekend to every few days or whatever to literally EVERY DAY, it didn't take long, and it set the stage for some fucked up shit. One of them in particular a bit more so than the others described symptoms of delirium and his personality really became quite distorted. If it wasn't DXM it was alcohol, briefly crack binges, Ecstasy, who the fuck remembers what else they did but let's just say his problems evolved and its still ongoing.

Olneys lesions are a theoretical effect of all NMDA antagonists, including ketamine, PCP and nitrous oxide. I much prefer Nitrous oxide to DXM.

Regardless of whether a drug does obvious physical 'damage' to brain structures, let me assure you that psychoactive substances do change the way your brain functions this is why they are psychoactive drugs. Some drugs more so than others can indeed cause persistent changes in brain function. An example is how the brain adapts to drugs that flood the nucleus accumbens in the brain with dopamine by releasing less on its own. Now the brain wont fire dopamine without the cocaine or without the speed or without the heroin. However heroin, morphine, oxycodone, etc. (opioids) also take the place of the endogenous opioids in the brain and peripheral nervous system (endorphins, enkephalins, etc.) and so in response to diamorphine and other opioids the brain virtually stops producing these natural neurotransmitters. This is why opioids cause physical dependence and not just psychological. Withdrawal isn't typically fatal, and if being tapered properly symptoms are not generally very severe.
Fortunately after an opioid addict tapers off and abstains for some time (often this can be difficult), the brain will return to normal. This could take up to six months, and there was really no brain 'damage' during this time in the first place.

I was mainly joking, referring to the ongoing debate over wether or not olneys lesions actually exist..google "The Bad News Isn't In
A Look at the Evidence for Specific Mechanisms of
Dissociative-Induced Brain Damage and Cognitive impairment" its an article on erowid that is actually pretty good, I normally don't like erowid.

And its funny you give opiate tolerance as your example. I was first told about dxm for opiate withdrawls,I always thought it was amazing the different pathway drugs take.

Boards of Canada.. What album do you suggest, sir? People always talk about them and I never looked in. which album should I get first?
Music Has the Right to Children. Then from there, get Geogaddi and Campfire Headphase. Geogaddi is a lot more angular and dark. It's lead me through some ridiculous trips before. Music Has the Right won't ever steer you wrong, though. Definitely start there first.

DXM...wow man...that takes me back to bout 1996...was living on the streets in Seattle(in parks usually but w/e) smoking weed and shrooming constantly, one day was walking down University Ave with a dealer buddy, and a couple new kids we'd seen around a few days approach us...they've got some "new drug" called dxm...they'd put it into capsules, 500 mg per, and wanted to sell em for 5 $ a pop, or trade them for some weed...so, we traded them a couple grams for 8 capsules(4 grams) and headed back up to the park we were staying in, and 4 of us took 2 capsules each as it got dark..before too long we were looking at each other and saying holy shit man, Im fucked up! it was like you would be drunk off your ass for a couple minutes, then itd change to being trippy, then back to drunk, with the occasional twist into something like speed, back to drunk...well...we kinda lost track of each other apparently lol, and I'm not really sure of the order of things but at some point, I was flying very quickly, maybe 50 feet off the ground, which resembled a martian landscape, towards something...cant really remember what...the next memory I had, I was waking up in the middle of the pouring rain as light came up...I was alone...I stumbled around to the different areas we generally camped in etc, and found the 3 others huddled under a bridge... we all agreed that was the most fucking crazy shit we'd ever interacted with, and between us we'd done quite a lot of drugs of all types...anyhow...in talking to the guy I had the closest relationship with, I found out that he too had had the flying experience, red landscape and all! we never really talked bout it much after that, the guys that had the capsules were never seen again and that was that but I'll tell you Ive been a tester for lsd dealers, have eaten more shrooms more times than anyone Ive met and that dxm trip was as powerful an experience as I've ever had...if you are looking for a powerful experience unlike any other, than do your research into safe quantities, take as much as is believed to be "safe" and if its real dxm, you'll have an experience you will never forget.(well, you'll prolly forget most of it lol but yeah) Jeez, that's the first time ive ever recommended something like that and almost feel bad for it...so, lemme amend that by saying do it somewhere safe, and make sure there are people around you that have your back no matter what.

DXM is pure garbage in my opinion. Can't stand that crap. I don't find it entertaining and feel like it puts a toll on the body. I would much rather take some MXE or some Special K rather then fuck with that DXM bullshit

I used to love dxm, had a lot of great times. Once I tried ketamine...forget about it, I was all about the k-hole. I'd tap a vein, shoot and have barely enough time to get the needle out and shut off the light before I was flying...nothing I've done matched that feeling.

Exactly what I'm saying although I never shot anything in my veins in my life..
Either way I love MXE or K waay more then DXM (Which I hate)

In all honesty, IM is probably better for K, I just got hooked on the rush.

The body load from dxm was something I never really liked, although it wasn't really a problem until I started in with heavier doses, 800+ mg up to 1.2 grams, using pure dxm powder...I'd trip on a Friday and be recovering the rest of the weekend.
