I am of Cherokee (Aniyaya) ancestry and have been a practicing shaman for the past five years. Sometimes a shortage of certain things forces me to look elsewhere. As a result I have discovered one surprisingly potent combination that creates fantastic entheogenic results. One part of the combination can be bought legally just about everywhere. The over the counter cough medicine, dextromethorphan (DXM), found in products such as Robitussin DM, has a cousin known as levomethorphan that is also contained in trace amounts in the cough preparation. Levomethorphan is a Schedule II narcotic and is a cousin and byproduct of the production of DXM. [1] It is a semisenthetic morphine derivative, and is a very powerful hallucinogen [2]. Hallucinations from DXM require somewhat large amounts of the compound to be ingested, which ranges anywhere from 180 to 240 milligrams, and doesn't provoke the state of mind sought by most shamans unless marijuana is also used. In fact, DXM is an ingredient in some preparations of ecstasy. [1] The pharmacology of DXM is similar to phencyclidine (PCP). [2]
Any over the counter preparation that contains anything other than DXM and guafenisin should absolutely never be used. Poisoning from other ingredients is a leading cause of hospitalization and even death for those who attempt an altered state of mind.

When about three to four ounces of Robitussin DM or generic equivalent (10mg DXM per tsp.= 60mg of DXM per ounce) are ingested on an empty stomach and given about 30 minutes to start taking effect, the shaman must use marijuana with no other compounds, pills or alcohol in his or her system. The true entheogenic results will not take place without the use of marijuana. [For those who don't know, the word "entheogen" has replaced the now nearly defunct term "psychedelic" when referring to organic and inorganic substances that cause hallucinations.] The experience from this combination is very much like that of organic compounds. It can and probably will trigger hallucinations and spiritual experiences that are both bizarre and beautiful. It usually lasts about four to six hours. I have found the experiences to be not only beautiful, but spiritually revealing.
I do understand the danger involved in what I do. I don't encourage others, but if you do wish to use this combination, I suggest you do some research, and, if possible, the guidance of a shaman.
The re-ingestion of the cough preparation should not be attempted again for at least several days, as the compound is quite toxic. My personal rule is not to use the compound for it's entheogenic effects more than once a month. First time users of this method should be sure not to ingest any more than three ounces (180mg). Even experienced users of the compound should never exceed four ounces. Stomach discomfort usually takes place before the levomethorphan takes effect. That's normal, but can sometimes be avoided if a product containing only DXM is used. One such preparation on the market is called Delsym. That product should be avoided because it is a time-release preparation and can cause overdose and mental instability due to the long period of time it remains in the body (12 hours). One product that contains only DXM is called Zicam [Severe Cough], and is available without a prescription. One dose of Zicam contains 30mg of DXM. A single dose of 180-240 milligrams by an adult has always been shown to be safe among people I have witnessed using the compound. No one has died from the single use of 240mg or less of DXM. When used with marijuana, all have had, at minimum, hallucinations. Some have had visual and auditory hallucinations, and still some have had full-blown spiritual experiences. Unfortunately, the DEA is reviewing DXM and considering it as a possible controlled substance.

I do not take responsibility if someone uses this combination. Like all substances that alter consciousness, it can be dangerous, and the illicit overuse should certainly never be practiced by someone under the age of 18. The illicit use of DXM does increase blood pressure, so that can be a danger for people who suffer from high blood pressure and/or heart disease. Anyone taking antidepressants should never use DXM because of a life threatening condition known as serotonergic syndrome. [2] The occasional illicit use of DXM has not directly caused any deaths. Deaths that occurred were a result of the ingestion of much more than 240mg (400mg +) and constant, repeated use or using it in combinations with pills, other OTC medications and/or alcohol. I didn't pull the 240mg maximum dose out of my magic shaman's hat. That information came from a pharmacist. I admit it is a very powerful, possibly mind expanding, compound, but I suggest that you go ahead and do some research before you use it to embark on a journey. The first time i did dxm i felt like i was floating as i walked, i was hovering forward it was pretty funky. i wanted to do it again so we got a dex calc and entered our body weights so as to not overdose. i gave the suggestion of blazing to counteract the nauseating taste. its other wordly, and at one point when i closed my eyes i felt like i was suddenly hovering then all i saw was black around me, then somehow light transformed and i saw gold mixed with black, then i saw bricks and i knew instantly that i was inside a pyramid. i felt sand under my feet and saw wild intricate designs on the walls, def a must....

the shaman ive done dxm many many many times in both cough syrup pill and pure dxm, powder form the experiences are pretty incredible but so is the nausua after eating so many damn pills

im not gonna try to post the process for extraction here because its been like 7 years since ive done it soi dont really remember all of it but you can extract the pure dxm into powder or liquid form fairly easily im suyre a little research online would show you

if you really are a shaman i would imagine you would rather do that then drink a buinch of cough syrup or a whiole box of cooriceden

also i though they already made dxm illegal in pure form if im wrong though then you can order it by the kilo pure online

I read somewhere that the government shut down a whole lot of operations that were selling DXM in powder form over the Internet. The stuff was unreliable as to dosages.

Also, there is already something on the market that is pure DXM. It's called Zicam Severe Cough. It's pure DXM that melts on your tongue. It tastes pretty good too, so there's no need for learning to extract anything. You just have to buy the right product.

I blaze, so nausea has never been an issue. Besides, I don't do it very often -maybe five times in a year.

And as far as going to "be a shaman rather than drink a bunch of cough syrup", I don't think you really understand what shamanism is. I don't know what you have in mind, but I'm reasonably sure it's wrong.

NOTE: I am VERY EXPERIENCED in DXM use, have read many articles on its use, and do not recomend ANYONE try such high doses until the you have slowly become used to the effects of this chemical!

I have never tried smoking after the affects of DXM, but i will have to try this- thanks for the idea shaman.

I have however used DXM many times as well, and have also tried 4th Plateau dosages (around 850mg and i weigh aorund 130lbs) several times. for a description see The Dextroverse - What is DXM? In EVERY one of those doses I have had vivid and realistic hallucinations, which were difficult to distinguish between real life. My most profound experience was one in which i was laying in bed, listening to music, and as a song that i could relate to came on, I began flying around my room (still looking through my eyes, not 3rd person) but i could still feel my body in bed. Around the path i was traveling, visualizer patterns were appearing and I felt deepy sorry for my actions earlier that week which the song was relating to me. So i can see how combined with marijuana that journey could be multiplied in significance to my own person and in physical attributes.

ALSO, CCC (coricedin is not safe unless you extract the DXM) A simple method of extraction is just to crush the pills up very finely, then soak in water. Wait for the DXM to float to the bottom and use something like a turkey baster to remove the water from the top. Since DXM is only ~1% water soluble it wont mix with the water, but the chloropheniramine maleate (the bad stuff that will poison you) will spread throughout the water. So when you suck the water out, MOST (not all) of the CPM will be removed.

no i dont have any true understanding of what a shaman is ive never met a "true" shaman and i havent messed wwith dex in years i just thought i would give ya some input in case you havent shecked for online ive never claimed to know anything bout being a shaman but i have a good deal of experience with research chemicalks i got some new ones i never tried my friend gave me the other day called DOC im gonna try sometime in the near future

That is the type of spiritual experience I've been referring to. I have to congratulate you for spiritually materializing inside a pyramid. I'm a little jealous. It seems like you may have the makings of a shaman. I suggest you consider it. The best way to experience DXM and pot is to be alone and in a resting position. I like to use silence sometimes, but most of the time I'll use music. Gary Numan has a song called "Fold" that is really psychedelic and can take you for a ride if you mentally listen and physically rest. The resting position has been mentioned by others. It's an important part of the experience.

Zicam Severe Cough is an over-the-counter product that is pure DXM. You don't need to extract anything. You don't have to worry about poisoning from any other ingredients because there are none. Each tablet contains 30mg of DXM so the math is made easy. The tablets also dissolve on your tongue, and they don't taste bad at all. If you go on a DXM-Pot trip, I strongly recommend Zicam Severe Cough. A box of 10 tablets costs about $7.00 US. Again, if you've never done it before, limit yourself to 180mg and wait about 20-30 minutes then blaze. The responsibility is yours if you choose to trip.
