Do not eat mushrooms of questionable identity. Period.
Some will make you poop your pants and a few will out right kill you in a slow and terrible way (renal failure over the course of days). If you cannot positively identify them don't eat them.
If you are 100% on them then eat them and have fun.

My rule of the thumb for identification is to look for the golden top, then see if the gills are a dark purple (almost black).
