Excessive heat will degrade the active ingredients. How hot do you think the water gets when making tea? I have always read and been told not to go over 220 degrees max, but I never go over 135 on the dehydrator.

Agreed, I think people would be surprised at exactly how much heat these things will take.

A small bit of heat isn't gonna do much harm. I always say that if you don't take enough to think at some point, you did too much, you are wasteing 6 hours of your life, anyway. So marginal potency diffirences is a non-event.
On the drying thing, make absolutely sure it is cracker dry, this prevents bacteria growing on it. Then just as importantly store absolutly airtight, the fungi absorbs moisture out of the air faster than you can blink. Those vacuum freezer bag things works well.
