It's a good desperation trip... i.e. you have nothing else. Especially if you just plan to drink it straight out of the bottle. I have never taken cough medicine directly without removing the shit. I always did an acid base extraction when I took DXM, to remove the guanifenesin and inactive ingredients.

The experience is not really that great. It just feels like your really drunk and euphoric for doses of ~400mg, but without much loss of coordination. At least thats how it was for me. I fell asleep once and had some really messed up dreams too.

If you want the trip to last longer drink a shitload of grapefruit juice a couple of hours before, and when you take it. The grapefruit has a chemical or enzyme in it that decreases the amount of dxm that breaks down into dxo. I would check the experiences vault at erowid.org if you want to find out more about peoples' experience mixing it with other drugs.

Personally I would never take DXM if I had any bud to smoke. It's just not worth it.

Yer.. Yesterday was a buzz but today I got truly high... I hated it. It wasn't a happy, uplifting high like weed. It was just a separation of mind and body. I just blabbered a bunch of bullshit and couldn't get a hard on...
I really only plan on doing this if I've been dry for a long time (haven't had weed for nearly a week now.. It's killing me :S) because like monkey said it's really not worth it if you have bud.. I do want to take a really light dosage with some weed though. That should be fun.
From now on if god didn't make it then it's not going in me.
NOTE TO ANYONE ELSE TAKING IT: If you don't feel it in a few minutes don't take more.. Trust me you'll feel it in 30 minutes.. an hour or two at the most.
Monkey what kind of dreams did you have? I'm still sorta high and I just watched I am Leged so I'm pretty freaked out. I'm afraid to go asleep cuz I'm gonna have some freackin nightmares.

As for the dreams; they only happened when I took it with the grapefruit juice. If you have ever taken a large dose of pure caffeine (like more than 1g and went to sleep thats what it was like. Best way I can describe the dreams (its been awhile) it was like I was paralyzed, and could not wake up and was conscious of this even though I was sleeping. Then if I made a really big mental effort I would just wake up all the sudden. I knew it was just a dream but still a very strange feeling.

there is no fucking way that shit makes you comfortable and happy.. you either didn't eat enough or forgot to blaze some tree or something cause ive eaten 20 without trippin just felt real drunk before but right when you hit any green its a whole nother world.. kinda like an out of body experience

I tripped DXM "Delsym is the best" more than a few times.. Don't love it, but don't hate it either.. Best trip was drinking a big bottle of delsym and a box of 18 coricidins then went outside to smoke a joint.. After the joint i thought i was sinking in quicksand in the middle of my backyard.. My friend who was also tripping had to tie a rope around me and pull me to safety.. oh good times
