live in canada, took a bottle of that shit camping with us a few years back, took a shot straight out the bottle, no chaser, couldn't breathe after lol. it was about 140 proof i think (70%) but ya you would have to drink obscene amounts of it to hallucinate and by then you would be so drunk you wouldn't even know it.

Yeah it tastes like shit too. It's illegal but you can order it from Europe. My friend ordered some, i think it was like $90 a bottle. It didn't do shit to us, just gave me a buzz. I only took 3 shots cuz it was so nasty, but I don't think you can really trip off it, either.

You can order Absinthe over the internet. The best stuff comes from the Czech Republic. It has a picture of Van Gogh with his ear cut off on it. (can't remember the name) Lots of tujone in it. The best way to describe it is like being stoned on good Black Afghani hash. A real slow body type drunk/stone. Strangely psycadelic. And kinda fun. If you drink too much it will have you starting a fight with the cops.

my friend made some absynthe a couple years ago and gave me some but it wasnt very much like a shot worth (shot of liqour that is ) didnt really do much felt like i drank a shot of liqour i think he st didnt have enough left by the time i found out about it cuz thier were 3 of us sharing it and he was almost out

you can get it in massachusetts now at bars it comes with a spoon and suger cube you light the suger on fire and then put it in the drink it just got me drunk like anything else well i cant really remember LOL

yea If I'm not mistaken it is now legal in the US. because people forgot the halucinatory ngredients... so people just get drunk... and the government makes there money, and tax it extra heavily

While some of you are on the right track, theres a lot of silliness flying in this thread. Next to none of the absinthe you can buy now is original recipe as it was made in impressionist era europe. There is currently a manufacturer who is reproducing absinthe that was reverse engineered from a surviving bottle from the late 19th century. I believe the fellow actually even went to the length of purchasing a surviving absinthe distillery.Kübler and Lucid are two brands who are now being produced to original recipe specifications. Also, the legality of these is no longer in question because the chemical Thujone (the psychoactive in wormwood) is present in very low concentration. So find yourself a bottle of Kübler or Lucid, pour a bit in a glass, and slowly drop water over a sugar cube into the Absinthe, and you too can feel a genuine smack from the Green Muse.

Charles, i trend to agree with you here; I believe the hallucinations are just a way to sell the stuff, a marketing ploy (atleast today, who cares about what it used to do?).

We prepared it correctly, sugar, fire, ect...but it just tastes like strong Jager. Which isnt horribly bad it just wont make you trip out or anything so dont expect that to happen.
