1. What is the best way to maintain temp? SHould I make a cabinet? Put a heater near by?

2. Is the odor real bad? I have a small room and I dont think the people living with me would like a real bad smell.

3. Is there a way to figure out the quantity of your yield before you start?

1. Room temp is fine for colonization, extra heat invites contams.

2. No the smell isn't bad.

3. There is no way to calculate yields, although monotubs will give you a hell of a lot more then using a PF tek.

You should actually have the temp for colonization at, or close to, 85 F for the most rapid colonization. A way to achieve this is by using a heating pad are used for sore muscles.

If you use this, remember to check the temp frequently at first to be sure that it's not going to get too hot.

Nope, my jars colonize at room temp faster. As I said warm temps encourage contams.

ganjababy, that could just be the specific substrate mix that your using. The general consensus is that incubators speed up colonization, However they are far from necessary. Room temperature is absolutely fine.

86 is the best temp, the smell isnt bad at all. just remember, you have to be 100% sterile when working with agar and grains.... so good luck! i am growing amazonian penis envys and panamanian right now yay for cubensis!!!

1.) One of the best ways to maintain temp is... "A reptile thermostat used in conjunction with a heat mat or very small heater" You could use this setup to keep temps constant in a old refrigerator or a large storage tote... Incubation temps should be 78-82degF. Fruiting temps should be 68-72degF. Incubating at higher temps just invites contamination and does not benefit you at all!!! Though incubation is a bit overrated IMO because room temp will do fine.
2.) Smell is next to nothing...
3.) There is no way to know what your yield is going to be until "you" have used and became familiar with a particular method of growing. Then you will be able to pretty closely estimate your yields.
