Valium is something I can't take recreationally. 10mg and I'm so far gone I can hardly think. I was prescribed some for a back problem that I had some time ago and I'm still missing a week of my life somewhere.

Tolerance builds quick for valium and other benzos. Start slowly and judge the effects, these can really mess you up and make you black out if you take too much. When I take valium I like to chew up a few of the 10mg pills. No point in snorting, when chewed they kick in suprisingly fast.

Careful when mixing with opiates or alchohol. They really boost the effects of those drugs. When used carefully they can boost the effects very well though, just don't go overboard.

It's a benzodiazepine, otherwise known as diazepam . Uh if it's your first time, maybe take one of the 10mg pills. It's very sedating, but I think more calming rather than making one sleepy.. it's not too unlike alcohol, but I think they are more plesant, and less apt to do retarded shit.

Unless you want to snore and fart for several hours or more, if you have not taken Valium before start with a 5mg. dose. To someone new to taking Valium even that dose can be enough to make you nap the afternoon away until your body builds up some small tolerance to it.

first time I took valium it was accompanied by lorazepam and dilaudid (I had never tried any of the three).. stayed up perfectly fine.

But by no means is it bad to take less, brick top is right, you could probably take half of one of the 10's and crush it up and parachute it (no need to blow them, they have a ~93% oral bioavailability)/

Valium are "soft-pressed" pills, meaning that when swalowed whole, they disintegrate in stomache within minutes. Although some people sniff them, I've tried them both ways and prefer eating them. I've always liked Valium over other Benzos. It doesn't tend to induce as much drowsiness as, say, Xanax or Ativan. However, like others have said, tolerance builds quickly and the dt's (detoxing) from Benzos are worst than dt's from opiates. 1 out of 100 opiate users die from quitting opi's cold-turkey. 1 out of 10 people die from quitting Benzos cold-turkey. Plus Benzo dt's can last over a month and upto 3 months! The withdrawls themselves are enough to keep me away.

well, i personally take 10 mg 3x a day for terrible ringing in my right ear. it helps distract me from it so i can actually function. I was taking 8-10 mg of xanax a day b4 that and xanax makes me a very different person, plus it stopped helping my ear after about 6 months. Valium doesn't seem to get get me high at all, maybe a little bit less anxious, but it is nothing compared to the xanax. plus it has been working for my tinnitus for over a year now w/o wearing off.
But i have friends who can't 5mg of valium w/o passing out so it all depends on ur metabolism. As with most drugs, some things work for some people better than for others.
