yeah. those pics are great but not always pics can be used as itentification.are really great way is to take a spore print.you take you suspected cap and place it on a white sheet of paper.then spray a little water over them.after 20-30 min. you have a spore print on your paper-if its PURPLE, then you got yourself a magical mushroom!!!!

No. They aren't always purple. The pictures weren't meant to ID but to say that you can't ID from looks.

man-they are purple or something near that color(the print) and it is the safest way to id your shroom and also with just looking the shape and other factors.

if we are talking about other mushroom strains, then it usually purple or something like that too, it even may be orange depending on a shroom strain.
