hmmm.. I looked over that page, and saw that he individually packed all of that vermiculite and whatnot, and only got a few caps each. is this supposed to be a more effective method than just a plastic tub filled with the stuff and sprouting hundreds in one tub?

If you have never grown mushrooms before I would suggest you master this tek first and then move up. When you start to grow in the tub, its going to be nearly the same principle (mycelium jars of grain constanly shaked to keep apart and then layered in substrate) If youre a little shaky with the PF tek then youre going to have a higher chance of failure. Just do a few PF Tek's and get some spore prints so you can ensure you have a steady supply of spores for yourself and maybe start a little collection. Its all up to you, just my opinion

yeah, im not versed in growing mushrooms at all, but had a friend that did it successfully in some small tubs. I dont understand the prints or the spores or the necessities of growing and everything, im a little filled up with info about growing weed, im just going to wait until i can take in more information haha..

Yah well he only got a few caps each, because of a few things -

His cakes where very dehydrated and the picture shows clearnyl how he missed out an important step - the fungifun thing is a very very simple simple method.


But you have to " birth " your cakes,

which is soaking them in water for 12-20 hours or so

Then roll them in vermicullite,

he onyl got a few caps because his substrate wasnt so hydrated and was just showing a very very simple method, if you add a few more simple methods ( dunk and roll ) you can achieve alot more

Dunk and Roll! Yeah that works great too. You can always do the PF Tek then crumble your cakes and case em after you get a harvest out of em

Start with the PFTek method, (rice cakes & small jars). You'll get shrooms, if youre clean enough with everything, then you can make your own spre prints. Sterility is the key. Use spore syringes instead of prints the first time out - less chance of contamination. Only move up to grain jars after you've had success with the rice cake method - (just google rice cake pf tek & you'll find a good guide)... As for a reputable place to buy spores from, I always use earthstongue.com - (follow the link for "spores for microscopy study). Best prices and top quality strains. I have seen personal results. The guy is fast, reliable and honest about his product. (I've been ripped off by several other mycological suppliers before). Good luck and happy shrooming!
