Yea, so I am a total begginer so hopefully I walk away from this with at least ONE good, non contaminated jar.

the spores- psilocybe cubensis (duh)

the strain- treasure coast.

I made the glove box out of a rubber maid. Sprayed it black. put holes on either side for the gloves. and used half a cd case as my viewing sheild. (i know, I know, pretty ghetto). And a whole lot of duck tape.->god's gift to man.

I Am sterilizing the jars in my preassure cooker right now. been in almost an hour at this point. bout to take them out for (hopefully) a sterile, clean inoculation.
(there's a pic of a pipe I bought the other day in there. threw it in cuz i'm bored and thought it looked cool.) And of course thoughts and comments are more than welcome.

6 in total. only 4 fit in the preassure cooker I have so I'll have to do them after.
But i actually have a question. I just took out the jars from the cooker, and as i suspected i burnt them. no big, I just have to re-do them. I'm concerned I may have either put to much water in or not enough. has any one had this problem before (of burning the substrate)???? how do I prevent the jars from cooking??? lower heat? higher heat? don't want to make the same mistake twice. thanks.

i like to have the water level in the middle of the jars..does your pressure cooker have a insert that the jars sit on?? you cant let them be on the direct heat from the stove or it can burn the substrate or jars will crack. if not you can take a tea towel and use as a barrier on the bottom of the pressurer cooker... here is my thread for my grow maybe somethings i do may help you.http://www.rollitup.org/hallucinator...l-p-cyans.html

Thanks alot bro. I actually have an insert they sit on which is why I was so suprised when they burned. But I ended up puting the jars on lids and puting in more water on lower heat. worked perfect. I'll post pics in a couple of days when they have begun to colonize. thnx again.

Slow colonization. Didnt have a heat pad untill today so colonization has been slow. So it's pretty much day one of colonization. Heres a couple pics of two seperate jars starting to devolpe mycelium.

Careful bro, heat pads can make it too hot.
Know that the temperature inside the jars is hotter than outside, due to the colonizing mycelium.
The optimal colonizing temperature is about 75f, if it gets too hot, you are possibly damaging the mycelium, and inviting contams.

Good luck on the grow though, I'll keep an eye on this
