my general opinion would be to just stay away from messing with the stuff, unless you have a use for it (pain).

like dirt clean said, you can do it, just be careful. it's especially addictive if you take it for fun and don't have a reason to regulate your dosage. detoxing is very unfun.. eep

As far as opioids go, morphine is also very inefficient. That's why the semi-synthetics like oxycodone and hydrocodone. Morphine can only be absorbed into the bloodstream by the liver first unlike the others, so less than 25% of it is bioavaiable when taken orally.
