Ok so right now I'm really interested in growing opium poppies. I heard that McCormick brand poppy seeds are actually the right breed of seeds but would that actually grow if I planted them??? Also, I need to know what kind of lighting I would need... mine isn't the greatest, unless four 4' 40 watt fluoros would work.

So... yeah where can I get the opium poppy seeds and what kind of lighting do I need? thanks for any help that I get...

google "Papaver somniferum". Buy seeds, plant seeds *btw you may need more area than you think, poppies spread like wild fire*, cut the pods (after the flowers fall off), scrape off the latex-like-gel. Consume.

It's more slightly complex, but this is a breakdown.

Btw grow them outside, or in a windowsill.. you can't tell opium poppies from regular poppies by looking at them (atleast I can't, nor can most people tell you what a poppy looks like). So you're safe to grow them outside.

holy shit is that right? I had no idea the yield is that low. What worked for me (granted a very slight buzz) was to take the latex, drop a couple drops of water on it (to get a liquid-ish substance) and smeared it all over rolling paper and then had tobacco.

Ok well I know that when you cut the pods the opium drips down the pod... and one drop is more than .022 grams. And btw a coupld kilos of opium for an acre is a lot more than .022 grams per sq. ft... thats kind of a lot of opium lol.

So uh... please source things like that cuz I really dont know what to think.

I thought that what came out of the poppy was opium... everything I have read has told me that.

Opium poppies contain 12% morphine, they also contain vaious amounts of codeine, papervine, thebaine, and noscapine... so it's gotta be more than .022 grams man.

I mean, 100g of latexy shit is 12g of morphine.

Yeah so besides that... what kind of lighting do I need to grow them? Can I just use my fluoros and cfls? I dont get much light in my windows.

dude opium is the latex that comes out of the pod... the "latex" as you call it then goes on to be further refined into morphine then you make heroin from the morphine or you can extract the codeine or whatever it is that your trying to get out of it, hey hobo who told you that you extract opium from "latex"?

anyways to produce an ounce of opium ("latex") you would need to grow about 200-450 plants
