i attend a culinary arts school and we were on the subject of rye and my teacher went of on a tangent he informed the class that a side effect of rotting rye is the production of lsd and that was the one of the contributing factors of the salem witch trials that they let a batch of rye go bad ....... just wanted to put it out there on here see what people think and if they have heard about it

Sorry man. But this is kind of bullshit, yeah rotting Rye may be a source of ergot, which in turn is a precursor to LSD, but there is no way that one could trip off of it. Otherwise no one would buy LSD, everyone would eat rotting rye.

lol im not saying its a possible way to produce lsd nor would i recomend that anyone would do this i just made the thread because i was astonished that the cases of this were out there and... it proved as no purpose to create lsd or try the amount of side affects which include insanity limb loss and decreased cirrculation arent worth any lsd trip ive ever had soo in conclusion its definately not bullshit and check the previous listed link if you havent there are recorded cases ...... facts are there

I'm not discrediting people had problems with rotting Rye, I believe it, ergot generally (to the best of my knowledge) is good for one to injest, and I would imagine it would cause very sever side effects if not, death.

I said it was kind of bullshit as to I doubt that any of the side effects could actually be related to LSD.
