i have a question i have a IMUSA pressure cooker 8qt it only fits 2 jars but thats fine i have limited space, but how do i know what the psi is at theres no meter just an overflow and a pressure release knob.
ontop of the overflow is a knob with a screw that you can screw out and in are any of you familiar with these kinds?

is this it or similar ![]() only saying they come in 7.5 qt and NONE I can find come with psi from the Manufactuer. In one vague search i found someone saying 6.5 psi max...I dunno how much id trust that rating but its obviously its a self setting model and actually imusa dont even call it a pressure cooker, they call it an express cooker with no ratings, just how to cook in it.. Sorry just trying to help because 6 lbs is risky I dont know if it will get er done...best you can do is try to do it twice and see if they fail, but then your out the spores or whatever your using if the jars do fail...

oh shit check this though
Most pressure cooker recipes are made to cook at the standard of 15psi, in fact this setting is so common that most recipes don't even need to mention it. This setting is the standard as determined by the USDA way back in 1917 when all pressure cookers had just that one 15psi setting. That pressure setting still remains as the standard today. Many inexpensive pressure cookers made today still provide only one pressure setting, this is especially true of the old-style jiggle top models. Some of the new and improved, 2nd generation pressure cookers offer multiple pressure settings. Do you need more than one pressure setting? Maybe not, the vast majority of recipes still use the same, original 15psi sett by the way its copy and pasted off a link i got from a search on here about pressure cookers and how they work.
