any one on here have any expeirience with growing opium poppy seeds? or producing you own opium?

i just started some seeds i got from a buddy.. he said its pretty easy to grow, keep them 12 inches apart for best pod production but they can be closer but they will come out smaller.. veg and flower times are opposite of marijuana, 12/12 veg (cabbage stage) 6/18 flower..
i dont know how to get seeds i got lucky cause my buddy made some poppy tea out of some dried pods and he keeps the seeds so he gave me a few thousand..
i have heard you can try the McCormic poopy seeds or whatever the spice brand is but they are lightly cooked so they are hard to germinate

Shop bought are very easy to germinate (use the 24 hour soak to wet towel method), >80% success. My tip would actually be plant about 8-10 in one spot (not actually right on top but close). As they are growing, thin out the weaker seedlings, keep thinning until you have the strongest seedling left in that section, this will make sure each seedling in each section has a good start at life.

Keep temps low when the sun (or lights) go out. They need dark temps of about 15C.
