anyone know how to save spores in a syringe....instead of buying 20 bucks all the time?

by refrigerating a syringe it's viability should be maintained for many months at a time.

that's my question....i see how to do a mushroom print on paper, but how do i produce my own spores into a syringe? cut a cup of water, put a little bit of mushrooms in it, then after a few days suck it up into the syring? would that work? the spores would probably spread out into the water....?

someone correct me if im wrong but i believe you set an opened cap on aluminum foil and leave it for some period of time and then remove and the residue left is the spore print. you then scrape the spores into clean water and suck up into a syringe.

You can make a sterile print and use sterile water and make your own spore syringes. Or you can make a Liquid Culture with 3ml of spore solution that can knock up as many jars as you want. Make a 4% by weight Karo or Honey mix (i.e 100ml of water and 4g of karo) mix it up real good and PC or steam steralize either 45min @ 15psi or for an hour in the steam steralizer...supposedly you can microwave it too but I've never tried and I'm sure it isn't as definite. 2 holes on top just like with pf or grain jars, nocc up with 3-4ml of spore solution. You might want to add a piece of glass or something to agitate it into whatever container before you steralize.

Shake it up real good and into the incubator (or desk drawer) Shake it every few days and within a week or so you ought to see mycellium floating around. It will glob up and be hard to seperate it so you'll want to shake the dog shit out of it often. Once you have a good blob of myc you can use your master culture to nocc up a smaller working culture of the same 4% mixture. Refrigerate your masture culture and use the working culture to nocc up as many jars as you want to. It can as much as double colonization times and you can be much more liberal with how much you use to innoculate with.

i believe the method i saw involved
punch hole in center of lid large enough for needle.

sterilze a low style wide mouth 1/2 pint jar and lid.

cool and place cap in jar.

place tyvek over jar and cover . tyvek is fedex mailing envelope.

once spores drop, carefully remove cover and tyvek filter and take out cap.

should have print on bottom of glass.

quickly replace filter and cover and then use sterile needle and distilled water,

get gallon at cvs. pop needle thru side near top and extract water.

insert into hole in jar and mix thuroughly.

suck back into syringe and store.

theres more to it but the info is out there, it is on youtube and shroomery.
