Hi, This is my first post so I hope I'm in the rite section.
I live in the basement of a house with central air so its always a bit cool and I just got the ok from the owner to grow in my closet
but Ive never grown inside before and I don't have more than $350 to spend. The room is 2x4x6 feet high,its painted flat white and I'm looking to grow 2-3 plants.
Its just us in the house so smell is not an issue. my sister gave me 6 26w GE cfl's for the room but i know i need a real light.
Any suggestions on what to buy and how to set the room up would be greatly appreciated.

p.s would it be better to grow from clones or from seed as a beginner? i only ask because Ontario seed bank has some killer strains.

going to use soil or hydro???? how much bud are you trying to get? how often?

check around for used equipment on craigslist possibly..
I'd recomend
a 600w or 1000w...but remember bigger light more heat...

oscillating fan bringing air in as well as blowing on the plants and you're ready to rock search around though there's some great closet grows on this website..

You could go with the cfls but your yeild will be substantially smaller.

Im going to grow with soil since its cheap and easy, I dont care how much I get, I just want to try different strains and I plan to have the room in use year round

Thanks, I plan to use the cfl's along with a proper bulb but im not sure if i should go with a MH or HPS.
Which bulb is the better choice for use in both the veg and bloom stages? i dont think i can afford both.

You can use use cfls if you want youll just need more..your going to need a blue/cool white spectrum for veg and a red spectrum for flowering..i think thats the cheap and easyiest way to go..how much did that 6 pack of cfls for?

The CFLs and Floro are fine for vegging. (some have had great results flowering with them too) but general consensus is that the HPS is the way to go for flowering (where the money is made)

Now that said. How are you doing your room? Seed to flower? Or have a second room for veg?

If a single room, think about a switchable ballast (only a few buck more, less then the cost of a conversion bulb) That way, you can use MH for veg. Then when ready to flower, flip a switch, pop in a HPS and grow baby grow!

For a 2 room set up I'd go floro/cfl (veg) and HPS (flower)

Just my opinion.
