I'm stumped. Why reflect the IR back into the grow room?

IR is *heat*

A band-pass reflector sounds better to me. Reflect say 350nm to about 750/800, but let all others through.

BBB he is probably talking about reflecting it for detection purposes. That way IR scanners will have a hard time picking up on HEAT from grow room.

If that is the case you can buy c3 anti detection mylar, however chances are unless you are growing in the attic of your house choppers are not likely to pick up the heat.

there's insulation you can get from home depot or lowes. it's reflective metal on both sides with a thin layer of I think fiberglass insulation in the middle. anyone know how well this stuff works with preventing ir detection?

I bought some reflective IR paper. It's called Easy Grow reflective film. I also completely insulated my grow room with a/c insulation. But I don't think that the insulation alone is enough to block the heat signature that an HID lamp has. The center of it burns at very high temperatures, which is why even in an air conditioned room they can still see the heat signature. Unless of course, you have IR sheeting.

Sorry, but I doubt they can see any heat signatures through a roof that is insulated then through another floor that is insulated... When is the last time on those Cops videos that you have seen FBI still tracking a guy when he went to a basement or first floor on a 2+ floor building.... Never that's right....

Unless you want to count movies but if we're doing that I can bend a spoon (no wait there is no spoon) ..watch out neo!

Area we are @ is top floor with roof above. FOr safety precautions we require mylar reflective material to put around the whole area and preferably with Anti detection on the rear. Nothing like being overly cautious. Paranoia is my best friend at times.

Vancouver police say 90% of the grow ops found in their region are only found because people don't believe in the technology they are using today.

It is a FACT that an IR Scanner these days can sense heat signatures as small as a mouse through 5' of solid concrete.

When choppers fly overhead they will not see a small green flash from your lamp, they will see a giant green glowing house if your grow room is even 1 degree above external temperatures. The only way to completely prevent detection is to reflect the IR signals back to the camera. Please do not listen to the people that tell you your basement is undetectable from the sky. There are now IR Sensors that work at 10,000+ feet above ground and they WILL see you whether your in the basement or not.
