Ballast box? Brainstorming help needed

I would like to cut cost of two new light systems by purchasing a ballast kit ... right now I'm comparing cost ... between a system already made and the kits ... so far the build light systems to the door would be $266 ... the kits would be $142 ... the problem is a container to hold the ballast, starter, and cap ... what could I get at the local Home Depot or Lowes that could do the job... that's not real expensive ... It's for a 250W HPS and MH systems ... can't find any dimensions on ballasts that size already build so I have to guess at the size the box would be ... if anyone has a 250W HID light it would be great if you could give me the dimensions of the ballast box ... I've been looking all over for info on this subject ... plenty of info on wiring and such ... but nothing on what could be used as a container for the ballast ...

HELP

use a mailbox...that would be great!..you could paint cool shit on it too.

the metal housing box is usally the same size for magnetic ballast for 250 and 1000 . most have slits/groves thats used to fix diff size ballast

Where can I get one of these metal housing box? Are they easy to find? Are they inexpensive?

Just go to home depot and get one of their 250 watt hps security lights there like $75-150 bucks. they got both hps and mh.It comes all assembled and everything all u need to do is hook it up

I'm afraid they are much more than that ... I check on line and the 250W HPS is $190 ... they didn't have a 250W MH ... but the 175W was $160 ... too rich for my blood ...

a good light is a good investment keep saving .. but while ur saving get some cfl's or florescents start scrowngin

You don't have to pay those prices. On Ebay a 250 watt hps is 75 bucks plus ship.

I already have a good light ... it's just that the bulb is too dang expensive ... and I would like to get a more full light spectrum for the flower level ...

Thanks for the ebay link ... that is an option I had not considered ... it would be about $30 more going through ebay rather that buying a kit and finding a container ...
