I'm thinking of building a grow box for my first attempt at growing. I've done some research on using LEDs but I'm not 100% sure as there are some good reports as well as bad. Not yet, I would not waste your money on them yet. They have not advanced quite far enough. Give it around 5 years and I would say they would be able to do a nice job growing plants.

do not use those lights, atleast not as your primary light source. I learned the hard way, growth is way too slow. Go with either 150W CFL or HPS if you can.

if you really want to grow with LEDs you must buy the expensive systems like the UFO, Procyon-100, or buy any 1watt leds but lots of em!

dude..never ever use LED!!!!!!

After spending $700 on various LEDs I'd say that they are a waste of time and money. The small 5mm arrays are a complete joke (I have eight of the 14 watts modules from homegrownlights.com) and are basically worthless for flowering. I've built a high power array rated at 40 watts which does well but no better than CFLs.

Don't waste your money!

the only led that looks somewhat worthwhile are the ufo's, but it still can't touch hid's. Give it 5 or so years...
